Okay, let me preface this by saying that I have no skills when it comes to repairing electronics. Sure, I can unscrew stuff and blow out dirt/dust, but when it comes to soldering, wiring, circuitry, etc I have no clue.

Well then, I recently purchased a minty looking Intellivision. I hooked it up and it played fine. That was until I tried to play Microsurgeon and found that my second controller doesn't work. The primary (right) one is great, but the left one doesn't seem to work at all. I suppose the buttons could work on it, but I really only care about the disc. Without it there are so many cool games I can't play. Plus, I can't beat my girlfriend in Snafu :) .

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou in advance.

Inty 1 or Inty 2?

Very important detail. :)

Sorry. It's an Intellivision 1.

Well, take it apart and clean it all. Take special care noting how it's folded, and exactly where the plastic washer goes in the folded ply's. If you're lucky, a cleaning will do it.

If not, it could be the cable (proprietary), or the MPCB (membrane printed circuit board). MPCB's are meant to be replaced, not repaired, but working original MPCB's are getting very difficult to locate. They can be repaired though. It's tricky, and involves a multimeter and a paint on conductive solution.

If push comes to shove, I can likely sell you a refurbed controller. You have to take the cover off of the console though to unplug the original controller, and put in the replacement.

I'll give the cleaning a try. I've always been hesitant about opening up gaming stuff. But it's probably safe to say that I can't void the warranty by doing so anymore ;)

I'll let you know what happens.
