I had the score of the month (my month, not yours) with a PCE GT (the PCE version of the Turbo Express) for $20 from a flea market. Looked to be in great condition, came with Space Harrier.

The screen is totally wrecked when I power it up. A small triangle of pixels work in some corners, but overall the screen is shot.

Is there any way to repair/replace the LCD, and is there a source for these? DAGNAMITIT!

What will I be able to sell the broken unit for? I almost want to keep it because I have no other PCE GT.

Thanks for the referral. Now I have to decide if it's worth $60 to trade it in for another unit or a TE. That will make my total outlay $80. Could I just buy a new one for that?

Checking recent eBay prices for loose TEs, it seems like $80 would be about average for a unit loose. If not overpriced. I guess I'll just hang onto the thing for now.

Thanks,

ian

New Turbo Expresses are a bit pricey. Telegames and 4Jays will sell ya one for around 200 bucks!

I bought my TE at a flea market about 6 years ago for about $70. It was just the unit and 2 hu cards. I thought it was a bit expensive but I remembered that when these things first came out they were in the neighborhood of $300!

Luckily it played great and didn't have any burned out pixels. Though just recently I've noticed that there are 2-3 burned out pixels.

Oh well. They can't last forever!

Turbo Expresses run $50-$70 in the last month on eBay. Not so much. $200 new is a joke, although if you really gotta have it new now I guess someone will pay that. Makes me feel like a $20 dead PCE GT just isn't much of a score at all.

They were $400 retail, I believe. I think it's a useful score. I did offer you the $20 for it and you weren't interested...
