How do you remove Gamestop Price Stickers from DVD boxes?

Removing these damn things from a cart isn't that difficult, just use a hair dryer. But not only does a hair dryer not really work in removing a sticker from the front of a PS2, Xbox or Gamecube box, it actually melts the plastic a bit worsening the problem.

anyone have any magical solutions?

I've been wondering this myself. I try to avoid getting "Display Copies" of games, but I was stuck with 3 of them anyway. After almost successfully peeling back the stickers on 3 carts, I was left with all the sticky glue residue.

Well, my dad always rubs peanut butter on the residue after you peel off the sticker...rub in the PB with a piece of a paper towel...

I perfer lighter fluid myself. I usually, after removing the insert on the case for its protection, soak the entire sticker with lighter fluid, let it sit for a minute or two, and the sticker usually peels off in one piece. Then just wipe off the residue remaining.

Try freezing the case...it seems to work 50% of the time.

Goo gone also works, but goes through the plastic so you have to make sure the thing is damn dry (no residue at all) before you replace the cover.

It works great on any and all labels and leaves no stain or greasy residue. It's technically a rubber cement solvent but will work on any tape, sticker or label. It's also great for removing grease pencil which is what a lot of thrifts use for pricing.

The only thing I've found that I can't use it on is N64 carts. For some reason Bestine eats the color right off the label. I've had no problems with any other labels and I've used it many times on PS2,Xbox, Gamecube cases.

One word of warning, the stuff will dry your skin out fairly quickly so don't get too much on your hands.

That how i do it. You should also take out the insert cover, so you don't get it wet.

Nah, besides it's the heat that's melting the platic from the hair dryer. Neither Lighter fluid or Goo Goo should cause a chemical reaction.

Peel it very slowly. Then when it unevitably tears, go buy a new dvd case.

Just put a little of the goo gone on a piece of cloth first. Then just rub off what you weren't able to peel off by hand. That way you won't be getting the case all wet. :)

I dont see why getting them off a dvd box is any different than off a cartrige. Just use lighter fluid or goo gone. You could always take the cover insert and put it in an identical box (minus sticker). No one will know or care.

Peel off the sticker until there is just the sticky residue .
Then use WD-40 . It takes off the residue in seconds and will NEVER take off the color or hurt the plastic.

And WD-40 is like $1.99 and can be found anywhere.

Daria is absolutely right. She mentioned a couple of weeks ago cooking oil, and I tried it...it's FANTASTIC!!

I bought in the last 3 months around 15 used games from Gamestop with the nasty stickers (current games, mostly PS1 games, among them a mint complete Valkyrie Profile for $32)

Remove as much sticker residue as possible, then just use some kind of cooking oil, you'll get EVERYTHING off without big effort.

Also use cooking oil for the plastic of PS2, GC and XBox boxes!

Cooking oil works fantastic for PS1 and DC jewel cases. They look one class better afterwards; light scratches can't hardly be seen, and the case looks like new. I gave all my PS1 cases and DC cases the cooking oil treatment, and the little anal retentive guy in me is very happy.

It's also great for glossy manuals like the SNES. You get smears off you wouldn't get off otherwise, and the manual looks like new, shiny and clean.

Cooking oil is a great, incredible effective, and easy solution!

:hmm: You're talking about stickers on the plastic cover dvd case right? I just peel as much of the sticker as I can off and then rub what remains on off using nothing but my fingertips and thumb. Yeah it leaves a streak and such but keep rubbing it off to the edge will eventually remove it all.

I feel your pain. You should have seen this cpy of lufia 2 i found at one of my local gamestops. Label all torn up, stickers all over it. Who could of done such a thing?

I learned the hard way not to apply rubbing alchol over the back label of an SNES game- with my copy of Lufia 2. Luckily back labels are replacable...
