I've seen sealed NES gold Zelda games go for serious money, but not Kid Icarus. This just seems way to high a price for this game.
Is it really that rare?

Perhaps it is unopened. I would not pay that much though. Of course I don't collect NES games.

It is indeed a new copy, but it's not worth $400. These bidders are what we like to call MDMAF.

Check out his other auctions. Many sealed nes games. Most going for $10-20, but Zelda, Punch-Out, Kid Icarus and a few others are going for ridiculous amounts.
Prices for sealed nes games is a real crapshoot. It seems, popularity and name recognition are the determining factors for price. :o
