On the Nes Donkey Kong doesn't have the Cement level, but does it have it on the Coleco version?

I'm pretty sure it doesn't, but the Adam version might.

Yeah, I read somewhere that ADAM has all four.

The TI99 version is the only one with all 4, I think.

The Vic-20 and C64 versions have them all. The C64 version is a little sluggish, though, so I prefer the Vic-20 version (as insane as that sounds).

Good question. How about the Gameboy Advance reissue of the NES game? Anybody know?

AKAIK, the ereader version is is direct port of the NES game. I know the GBA cart is the same as the NES version meaning NO cement factory in it. Scruvy scheister bastards.

The original version of ColecoVision Donkey Kong is missing the Cement screen. The other 3 screens are misssing certain elements, such as the Springs from the Elevator level.

The original DK for the NES is also missing the Cement level, although the remaining 3 screens are complete. However, they are not presented in the order as the arcade version; the CV version does.

There is a four-screen version for the CV, but it is not really complete; collision detection was not programmed into the Cement level, and the other 3 remain incomplete. I wouldn't buy it.

There is also a 4-screen version for the NES. It is complete, and it is terrific. I've played it only once, but it does exist.

Unreleased proto? I'd love to have it.

Gah! Four screen Donkey Kong on the NES?! Has someone dumped it yet? It would go nicely with the European Mario Bros. ROM I've got on my computer... all the intermissions, perfect graphics... oh yeah, now THAT'S an port worthy of the arcade game!

It was a cartridge. I was unfamiliar with the NES version, and so assumed that ALL DK cartridges for the NES were like that; it was not until much later that I discovered that it was a somewhat rare version.

It had the intermissions.

But if Opcode ever programs his version for the CV, it will easily equal it.

4 screen NES version with intermissions eh.. I don't believe it until I see it (or someone shows it) ;)

Way way back I had a copied 5 1/4 floppy disk of a 4 scene Donkey Kong game on the Apple 2EC. The graphics weren't exactly on but it was decent over all. I'm curious about that NES cart though... is it US or Foreign?

was this the Donkey Kong Classics version, as opposed to the regular Donkey Kong release?

As I recall, the cartridge looked the same as the two "normal" ones I have.

It also had both DK and DK Jr. on it. Like DK, DK Jr. had the intermissions, including when he flies with a little umbrella. In effect, it had both complete games. I played it around 1998, at a fellow CV fan's house.

Again, I was surprised to learn later (mid-2000) that it was unusual; I took for granted that ALL cartridges for the NES were like that, which is why I picked one up at the garage sale, and went through the trouble of getting it working.

Be assured that it does exist. Sean Kelly- haven't YOU seen it?

I just think that if that 4 level version does exist then surely it would have been dumped somewhere as that's a pretty big deal. And besides, if Nintendo had done it, why are they still sticking with their original NES/Famicom release that was on the original DK and DK Classics cart?

I don't know.

But I will try to contact the owners (they moved a few years ago), and ask about it.

It's very unlikely that I'm the only one here who has played it? Someone else must have at least seen it.

This sounds like it may be the "Donkey Kong Classics" cartridge which had both DK and DK Jr. on it. I have the cart, so I'll check it out tonight when I get home. Altogether, there were 3 DK carts for the NES: DK, DK Classics (DK & DK JR.) and DK3.

Here here. I already ranted in a previous thread about this. Nintendo is either incredibly lazy or completely dedicated to bringing accurate NES ports to the GBA. You make the call. All I know is the original (1994) GB version of Donkey Kong blows away the new version.

Donkey Kong Classics, or at least the cartridge that I have, doesn't have any of the features that were left out of Donkey Kong or Donkey Kong Jr.

The Atari 8-bit computer version is probably my favorite, and it DOES have ALL 4 Levels! It's great! Check it out!

By any chance was this an FDS DK that was unofficially burned to EPROMs or something? That sounds plausible, but I've never heard of an enhanced FDS DK either. Heh.

I won't believe this until I see the game for myself. I find it suspicious that nobody would've known at all about this version of DK by now, if it exists.

If it is true then that's great, but it doesn't seem likely.
