Well looking trew some of my magazines tonight I ran across an old issue of emg from 1992 in the letter page there is a mention of gamers getting in line at the local chicago Ces( Consumer Electronic Show) For those of you who dont know the ces was basically the equivilant of e3 back in the day only those shows had much more then video games unlike e3 which just focuses on games. Well it Turns out I made it into that issue Im the guy with the fro under the second letter D lol, Yes there I am getting ready to do battle with one of the editors of EGM Ken wiliams at Street Fighter 2 CE Edition. I remember he was really good but I ended up beating him and my prize was an issue of egm and a scummy black Egm T-shirt that ended up as a rag for cleaning my car LMAO. Boy o Boy does time fly, Never would I have thought Id be writing about this over ten years later. Those were the times ! Im curious to know if any of you guys have ever made it to any game magazines ? be it by a letter rant or letter art or contest?

Just thought Id share ! =)

my artwork made it into Nintendo Power back in the day ('90 or '91) when they had the "design your own GameBoy" competition...mine was the black and yellow one. i'll be damned if i can find the issue though...

I never was, per say....although I was indirectly ragged on when I wrote for the Mushroom. Long story. However, a friend of mine who sits right next to me at work had a letter published in EGM once and another friend of mine got into the high scores of EGM another time (I think it was issue 14...the name Kevin Murphy...I forget what game).

Never been in a videogame magazine but I have had one of my tattoos as a full page picture in a tattoo magazine. The tattoo was of Adam Bomb from garbage pail kids and it was an issue (can't remember which one) of Incredibly Strange Tattoos

Whenever this subject comes up, one name immediately springs to mind: Russ Perry, Jr. Need I say more? Has he cataloged all of his appearances in the prozines by now?

I can only imagine how many letters he's been writing in the last decade or so.

As for me, my old zine was mentioned a couple times in Vdieogames magazine (what a terrible way for VG&CE to die). An Ecco review appeared in Electronic Games once, and one of my game codes appeared in EGM back in the days that they promised free games to all those whose codes were published. I'm still waiting for my free game.

I wonder if I should send them an email?

I sure as shit would, you've not got a thing to lose. More on the subject, I can't say I've ever been featured in a magazine for anything unfortunately.

Heh, sadly, no.

I can only imagine how many letters he's been writing in the last decade or so.

I haven't written so many lately, and haven't had any of those few published either. I think my last one was in Next Generation.

I did get ONE letter printed in the "old days", but I also got my name in another mag for winning a contest.

Outside of videogames, I won the Great Palindrome Contest in HolQeD (Journal of the Klingon Language Institute) and got my name in Games magazine a couple times for contests. Oh yeah, and I think I was mentioned in the Replication News article about Stella Gets A New Brain...

Also, I've been interviewed for a few things here and there, but I'm not sure if they were printed -- there was one for Toy Shop magazine that I should look into, and another for High Times which will hopefully be out soon.

No photos that I'm aware of though! (And thank goodness for that)

i remember that design-a-gameboy contest. I could search through my NP+s and scan it for you! Or if you know the issue number, thatīd be faster!

I wanna hear about Russ Perry in High Times! Now it all makes sense! That's why he was driving on the sidewalks in Chicago back in '94.

Oh, and I did send EGM about a million letters about the "free game" thing, but nothing ever came of it. Maybe I should start that up again; I managed to receive a long-overdue high school letter about 8 years after I graduated, so anything's possible!.

Now now, I'm "not experienced". But I can't speak for the navigator(s) who helped me get there.
