I recently purchased a used HDD and network adapter from EBgames as I needed them to use for "something". The HDD came with both manuals and a startup disk, but the network adapter did not...
I have no plans to use the PS2 online, as I can't and won't be able to. Do I need to still get a startup disk for the network adapter? And, further, do I need to use the HDD startup disk if my PS2 already recognizes the HDD on the browser screen?
Any help is very appreciated, as I am VERY lost. Thanks!

I don't think you need a startup disc for the network adapter if you have no plans to use it online. In your case you only need it so the HDD can receive power from the unit.
Likewise, I doubt you need to use the startup disc for the HDD either. I can't remember if I used mine or not, I'm having a brain fart right now. But if the PS2 recognizes it and you can do what you need to do I'd say you don't need it.

I believe that's correct, although I would probably go ahead and use the setup disk for the HDD anyway, just in case.

So how are you enjoying your hdloader? I am ordering mine on monday. Definitly worth the $$$$ imho. But if you got it for that you shoulda just got a regular maxtor hd instead.

If you ever do need a network startup disc, you can order one from Sony for free. I got my network adapter used without the disc as well, called up SCEA, gave them the serial# and they sent it out gratis. If I were you, then I'd just go ahead and get one anyway, `cos you never know...

Well, I actually ordered the HDLoader the same day I ordered the HDD and network adapter, but for some reason, it didn't ship until yesterday :/
So now I'm just sitting here, waiting for the HDLoader to come... I'd really like to copy my blue-disc games onto my HDD so I don't have to mess around with my PS2's internal gear settings anymore.
