My hat is off to Mega Man Anniversary, a game comp well done. It goes to show you that with a little extra work, game compliations can be fun, historical, and fullfilling to any collector. I pray that this does well in sales, and that it inspires other companies to so some retro comps. So what do we want to see next? As for my vote, holy crap.....a Konami Castlevania Comp would be awsome! What others can you think of?

A Castlevania collection would be sweet.

In fact, if Konami still has the rights, a collection of the old Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games would be nice too. (TMNT Tournament Fighters would have to be the SNES port though, since the Genesis port was watered down). I doubt such a thing would see the light of day, but one can dream...

I third swlovinist's bid for a Castlevania compilation, if not just to have Rondo of Blood. And I second DS's TMNT comp. Cowabunga, says I. :D

A Contra one would also rule, just exclude the crappy PS1 crap. I'm asking for too much, but a Gradius/Salamander/Parodius comp would be THE greatest. Also a Treasure one, whose brainchildren consist of Gunstar Heroes, Alien Soldier, Bangai-O, Radiant Silvergun... ah, come on, do I need to go further than that?

Gradius, Castlevania, Contra, R-Type, Ghosts 'n' Goblins, Final Fight, The Aleste Shooters... plenty o' things.

CASTLEVANIA!!!!!!!!! I finally got my megaman collection, now it's time for a castlevania collection! It had better have rondo of blood....

There also needs to be a 2nd sonic collection, with chaotix, sonic CD, and the various arcade games.

I'd also love to see a goemon collection, seeing as only 4 of the games made it to the US.

i was just going to say a ninja turtles disc, that'd be way cool. What about a capcom's greatest hits (you could put a couple mega man games on it). It could include ducktales, rescue rangers, strider, little mermaid, snow bros, tailspin, darkwing duck, gargoyles quest II, mighty final fight..... and so on... or maybe a taito greatest hits..... bubble bobble 1 and 2, little samson, toki, puzznic, jetsons, qix, panic restaraunt.

I'd like a compilation of Compile shooters...Power Strike 1 &2, Space Megaforce, MUSHA, Robo-Aleste, Zanac, Zanac Neo, Blazing Lazers...
Course, it'd be emulating so many systems as to be ridiculous, so I'd also settle for a Battletoads compilation.

First, I need to second the Mega Man Collection ROCKS! subject statement. PS2 version blew my mind tonight. Gave each one a try on regular and Navi (1-6 with nifty arranged tunes and menu gfx) and I love it.

The dream collection for me would be Castlevania like almost everyone else. If the approach were Super Mario All-Stars (still the best compilation ever) + the new Mega Man Collection (which is second best comp tied with Midway Arcade classics, Activision Anthology and Atari Anniversary Edition Redux [vector heaven]) it would be the best collection yet. A collection of the NES originals, X68000 CV, SNES CV IV & Genesis Bloodlines including SMB All-Stars versions of each would be impossibly ridiculous.

A compilation with Rondo, SOTN, COTM, HOD, AOS and possibly PS2 Lament of Innocence would need to come as a retro nugget on PS3, XBox 2 or Revolution. The next gen ultimate nostalgia trip. No need to "remix" any part of any of those. Straight ports would be sufficient. (I am a Castlevania fanboy, so shoot me. I have a wall scroll of the box art of Symphony in my "corner of a room of doom" which happens to be in the living room of mine and my girlfriend's apartment.)

Oh, and Qixmaster... NES Duck Tales series RULES!

Tecmo Bowl!!!!

Roger

Super Tecmo Bowl is my favorite game of all time. The only question is how would you want to do the comp? I would say keep the rosters for each game when they came out with the option to play with current players.

Comp could include:

Tecmo Bowl (Arcade)
Tecmo Bowl (NES)
Super Tecmo Bowl (NES)
Super Tecmo Bowl (SNES/Genesis)
Super Tecmo Bowl...

what am i doing the games aren't that different.

I'd like to see more Konami compilations. Castlevania, Contra, and Ganbare Goemon volumes would be great. And so would making some more arcade packs. A lot of good games they made that didn't recieve home ports. (Vendetta, Xexex, Ajax, Chequered Flag, Dark Adventure, etc.)

Most of all though, I'd like to an Aleste compilation, containing all the games in that series:

Zanac (maybe include all versions of it, Nes, MSX1, and the MSX2 Zanac EX)
Zanac Neo (PSX)
Gun Nac (Nes)
Aleste (MSX2, SMS)
Aleste 2 (MSX2)
Aleste Gaiden (MSX2)
Aleste (Game Gear)
Aleste 2/Power Strike II (Game Gear)
Power Strike II (SMS)
Musha Aleste/Musha (Genesis)
Dennin Aleste/Robo Aleste (Sega CD)
Super Aleste/Space Megaforce (Snes)

And finally I'd like Nintendo to start actually giving us some decent compilations, instead of rereleasing all their old stuff individually for 20 bucks each. And a compilation of their arcade titles would be a nice start:

Donkey Kong, DK Jr, DK 3
Mario Bros (I know they've milked this game to death, but it'd be nice to have the game in it's original arcade form available.)
Punchout, Super Punchout
Arm Wrestling
Radar Scope
Sky Skipper
Popeye (Only if Nintendo is wiling to get the license back. Which I doubt they would be unfortunately.)

I would love to see a classic gaming all-stars game - something like Captain N - where all the characters could play in the same game. Simon Belmont could use the Master Sword, Samus Aran could use all of Mega Man's acquired weapons, Kid Icarus could combine those with his arrows to great effect, etc.

I'll have to wait to get my hands on the megaman anni comp!! (GC) But i second every one that mentioned... Donkey Kong Country, Contra etc and what about Metal gear?..

How about Mario Allstars 2... which would include All the original super marios, all the super mario Snes titles and the N64 titles and maybe bang them on to 2 disks?..

original arcade mario's then SMB1, SMB2, SMB3, SMW, Yoshi's island, Mario Kart, etc etc then hit us with the second disk with all the N64 stuff c'mon! Ninty!.. we need more retro crack!! where going cold turkey here LOL

A few Dp'ers mentioned having company comps like a Konami disk.. think of all those nes or snes titles all-in-one! disk mmmmmmmm.

PS. Does anybody else feel cheated that the Megaman Comp is on the PS2 and that the new Ninja Gaiden is on the XBOX all these titles lived on Ninty platforms!.. Back in the day :o

I almost wish I had a TV, so I could check out the Mega Man greatest hits. This should be something that's done more often.

Personally, I would kill for a Technosoft compilation; collect the 6 games they made for the Genesis (Herzog Zwei, Thunder Force 2, 3, & 4, Devil's Crash MD, Elemental Master), and I'd never ask for another thing again.

Except for, um, a collection of the early EA computer games (MULE, Seven Cities of Gold, One on One, Pinball Construction Set, Murder on the Zinderneuf).

Or a Capcom arcade collection of their 80's arcade classics like Ghouls 'N Ghosts, Forgotten Worlds, Commando, Strider, etc.

Early Lucasfilm Games? Ballblazer and Rescue on Fractalus with Sam & Max and Grim Fandango?

There are some really great possibilities. None of 'em will ever happen.

good news for you

the original arcarde TMNT game is as an extra on "TMNT 2" for cube;ps2 and x-box.
and now hold your breath:
It WILL include the 4 player mode!!!!!

I believe we will be seeing more collections in the near future. One, because these companies KNOW they can still make money off their old games, two they are easier to make (just a matter of porting, controls, and menu selection really), and three, I think people like the fact that they can get a slew of games on one disc for one low price. I am always up for compilations...and I will get every one that comes out! :)

Another collection I'd like to see that I forgot about earlier is a Turrican compilation.

Turrican (Amiga)
Turrican 2 (Amiga)
Turrican 3/Mega Turrican (Amiga, Genesis)
Super Turrican (Nes)
Super Turrican (Snes)
Super Turrican 2 (Snes)
Katakis (Commodore 64. Should be included as an extra.)

Would be great to play Turrican 1 and 2 on a console. The Genesis port of 1 was so so, and 2's port was butchered. It was transformed to be based on Van Damme's movie Universal Soldier. I dunno who currently has the rights to Turrican though. Or Katakis for that matter.

I think it would be just great if game companies could put their energies into creating New and Original games instead. :)
