If I wanted to play the original Sonic Id get the GC megapak, and maybe look for GoldenAxe else where. Would you pay 25 bucks for this?

No way, finding these games is easy, the system is cheep, plus no need for batteries.

I might get it because I like collecting Genesis stuff. I already have all the games it might come with but if the packaging was cool I might think about it.

Nice controller, bad cheap white decal Mega Drive logo. The Radica logo also doesn't belong their, and if that doesn't look like a shitty little box... LOL

On the other hand, it might be nice to have, if it uses composite, that is :P

Hmm, not sure if I'd buy it with the lineup they had (Sonic, Golden Axe, Altered Beast, Dr Robotnick's Mean Bean Machine, Flicky and Kid Chameleon). For one you can't play multiplayer in Altered Beast or Golden Axe, so that's one con right there.

The Tetris, Space Invaders and Atari Paddle hand helds look promising, though.

I dont know if Id buy it or not. :o

If I had 25 bucks laying around, yeah maybe.

Probably not. As said before, the included games are pretty cheap and there doesn't seem to be any way to play multiplayer.

The system that was shown did look pretty neat though, IMHO.

Heh, they are just going crazy with these arcade/games sticks. It's a cool thing to see a sega based one but the games are all pretty easily obtainable. Not worth the 25 bucks IMHO. Flicky though is uncommon and it is damn fun!

To bring this topic back up, I just purchased the joystick today since it is the first time I have seen it....guess it was just released. The packaging is very cool looking with the Genesis logo on the front and pics of each of the original game boxes on the back. It looks sort of like the picture linked above, but with the Genesis logo instead of the Mega Drive logo....and it looks much better imho. The games play just about perfect, except for Sonic's sound. I do not hear the jumping sound at all, and it seems the sound is kind of raspy. Maybe it is trying to output in stereo but cannot? Who knows. The other games sound just fine however, even the speech in Altered Beast is there. Graphically the games are exact as far as I can tell. The base (that small looking Genesis 2) holds 4 AA batteries and the joypad's cable is permanently connected to it. I would assume the games are encased in this unit and not the controller itself. If that is the case, it would have been cool to be able to unplug it and plug another Genesis controller to it, or better yet if they had added a second controller port for twoi player action. The base does have a 6V DC AC Adaptor port, but the package does not include one.

All in all, I like it. Sure you can get a Genesis and the games for pretty cheap, but this is really meant for a quick Genesis fix. Something you can take to your bud's house with a sixer of bud, play and shoot the shit. I really think that any of these "Joystick Consoles" are pretty much made for this purpose.

Exactly. These aren't made for the collectors. These are more for casual gaming and casual gamers who may have owned these things years ago but don't want to fool with buying all the stuff again. Yes, you could probably get all the real stuff a bit cheaper, but that's not the point.

I got one of the Atari sticks for my brother in law and he loves it. Sure I could have gotten him a 2600 and the games, but I seriously doubt he'd use that nearly as much. The convience factor here can not be underestimated.

Not only that, but I think they make for a pretty cool collection. Lets see what I have so far:

Activision TV Games (old style and new)
Atari TV Games
Atari Paddle TV Games (single player and two player)
Namco Pacman TV Games (original and pocket edition)
Namco Ms. Pacman TV Games
Spongebob TV Games (had to get this...the nose thing was too funny)
Intellivision 10 Games
Arcade Pinball TV Games
Radica Genesis Collection
About 4 from VR Max (all kind of crappy)
Pirate N64 pad with 400 or so NES games built in
And a few others I cannot remember at the moment

Any time I see em I am just compelled to buy them...even if they are no name junk...just to see what type of games they contain and maybe try to find out what hardware they are running. I have one that has 25 no name games that I could swear are running on SMS hardware. Anyway, they look pretty cool on a shelf....if you have the shelf space that is!

By the way, for awhile I thought the Radica controller was going to look like this:

Wonder where they got that photo...or more importantly...that game lineup? Phantasy Star? Hmm...

And as has already been said, these are not aimed a collectors like ourselves, but at the mass market who fancy a quick hassle-free nostalgic fix. I'll probably grab one of the PAL ones eventually if/when they get discounted, just for completeness sake.
And 'Flicky' certainly isn't easy to find, at least not the original release.

I wouldn't. Plus Golden Axe is cheap to get anyway.

Thank you.

Though I must admit, Zektor, your collection sounds pretty cool.
