Anyone here have one of those gameboy player things that connect to a GameCube? I recently got a gameboy advance sp and really like a couple of the games I got for it and was wondering how it would be to play them on a full size system. Then I heard about this gameboy player thing and was wondering how well it works. If it really works good it might be worthwhile to pick up a GameCube and gameboy player. Any opinions would be appreciated....

I have one and I like it. The Gameboy screen is just too small for me so with the Gameboy Player I could play games like Mario Pic-Cross without squinting or worrying about light.

I'll second that! The Gameboy Player rules. Go get one! :)

Yeah, I have one, and its pretty good. Just don't try playing games like Super Mario Advance on it - those games have really been optomized for the small screen, and don't look nearly as good as thier original NES counterparts. [of course, I'm sure everyone around here has a NES...]
But yeah, its pretty good :).

Is there a list of games that don't work with the Player?

Gameboy Player is awesome. VERY WORTH IT, I use it more than my GBA or my GBA_SP

I have played Mario Golf Advance Tour every morning before work, while drinking a pot of coffee from the pot, since the game came was 'released.'

The only game I have that doesn't work is an old Sachen 4-in-1 game. It only works with the original green and black gameboy. WEIRD. ANyone know how to get around this?

Oh, and that Konami vampire game with the light sensor doesn't work too well....unless you wanna carry your GC out side....god, that would be fucked up. I think that Kirby pinball game doesn't work either.

Anyone have word on the vibration feedback games?

Kirby Tilt n' Tumble will work if you pick up your gamecube and move it around just as you would when playing it in a gameboy. It's funny (and fun) to use your GCN as a controller. You just need someone else to press A on the controller when needed, best with a wavebird. :)

odd picture starts to form in my head

yes it's great. I wish they could have figured out a way to make it so you could play multi-player without another GBA

I love mine. I don't even use my GBA anymore (unless I'm traveling) it's so much easier.

I love the GBP...if you want to play game boy games at home you might as well use a nice big screen. I've never had a problem with a game looking bad blown up on a tv. I also prefer to use the cube analog stick with games like Spyro and Banjo Kazooie, it just makes movement that much easier.

I bought a GB Player when it came out, and I loved it. Then I got my SP, and I rarely use my Player anymore. I just love the way the SP feels.

However, I do still use my Player when I know I'm going to be playing something for a long time, like Golden Sun or Zelda.

I'm looking to pick up one of these soon.

I do all my gaming at home and never had interest in buying a hand held system.

But there is some Gameboy games I want to play like the CastleVanias, Metroids, Zeldas etc.

It's also a lot easier to hold down the shoulder buttons for extended periods of time, meaning my hands don't cramp now when I play games like Mario Kart: Super Circuit (dangling items behind by holding down L).

I've also never had a problem with games looking terrible on the big screen.

I love my Gameboy Player too. I never use my SP unless I'm traveling(almost never). The only problem I've seen with it so far is when you play the Classic NES Series games on it like Super Mario Bros. I guess they scrunched the pixels in the game so that all of it would fit on the Gameboy screen, but looks really horrible when played on the Player.

I've been thinking about getting a Gamecube w/ Player too. Does it work with older GB/GBC games? And does it have the borders for certain games like the Super Game Boy did?

It works wiith all GB/GBC/GBA games. There is also a border which is on for every game...I'm not sure if there are any personalized ones though.

The Super Game Boy borders don't work. You are stuck with 20 preset borders.

It works great with all the old GB/GBC games . . . even makes some of them easier (with the CG controller).

I prefer the Super Game Boy if I'm going to play normal GB games or SGB enhanced games.

Game Boy Color games, on the Game Boy Player.

Some do...the ones that can be played on either the GB or the GBC.

I rather use those on the GBP because it adds color to the games, where the SGB plays them as B&W games.
