Good luck on "James Buster Douglas Knockout Boxing" for the SMS. When I was collecting the system I was able to find ever US release, but never this one. I know what the guide says, but I would personally call this one an R10 (complete that is)
BTW: I don't think this game has even been dumped rom-wise either. I may be wrong, but I certainly do not have it. Even more of a testament of how rare this title is.

That is correct, it is so hard to find... I've found others like Power Strike, Alex Kidd in Shinobi World in the wild without problems. But it won't stop me in my SMS game hunt.

R10? No chance.
There's been 3 (US) copies on eBay UK within the last 3 or 4 months alone, and none have sold for over £35 (around $65).
It seems that excess inventory was shipped to Europe when the SMS died in the US, so it may well be worth keeping an eye on eBay UK if you're looking for it.
Hell, if that's an R10, then what's the European Smurfs 2? R15 or something? ;)
I think the DP list has it about right at R7, possibly R8.
And it's definitely been dumped.
Anyway, US collection? Pffff, give me a European collection any day of the week (280 games total, I'm currently missing 28 of them) :D

Thanks for the advice, I will look more closely for Ebay UK for this game.

It is still rare, but does pop up occasionally and there's much less demand for it over here, hence the low(ish) prices.
I'll give you a shout if I spot one since I check new UK SMS listings just about every day (and aren't really interested in US games).

I had many Euro games when I was collecting, and you guys did get all the best games. However, even tho Buster Douglas may be more common in the UK, it is the USA version of the game that is so rare. There are differences in the box art (most of the time), game manual, and cart label (again, most of the time). A good example o]f this is Alex Kidd Shinobi. Many people will sell it on ebay (UK and USA versions), but it is the blue label USA version that is rare. The red label UK version with the multilingual back box is very common and not worth as much at all. The main reason these USA carts are worth so much is because many of the very late titles (blue labels) were being released for the system WHILE the Genesis was already out here in the states. Not many bought those games, and production was limited as well.

Huh. Wasn't Buster Douglas a US-only release, turning up in the UK under the name Heavyweight Champ? In that case, regardless of where you found it, you'd have a nice rare US copy?

Bingo. It was released as Heavyweight Champ in Europe, and later re-hashed as George Foreman's KO Boxing.
All the Buster Douglas copies on eBay UK were US versions.

A winner is me. Please send all copies of Buster D's Boxing to me, of course, in exchange for this fine information (it's one of a handful I still need to finish the US SMS, too!) ;)

It is also ironic that the US SMS Sonic the Hedgehog is also rare when it was mass produced for the Genesis, but again it was released in the last days of the SMS.

Actually, all US copies of Sonic (aswell as Spiderman and Strider) are just European copies with a US barcode sticker added.

I noticed it with my copy of Spiderman. Is also Galaxy Force a European game released here in the states?

No, there was a US release of Galaxy Force aswell.
It has a non-white cover like the other US Activision games [Galaxy Force is silver].
SMSpower has scans of all versions here: http://www.smspower.org/scans/sms/g.shtml

thanks for the link, I really apreciate it. I was curious about Galaxy Force because of the silver color of the cover, nice cover indeed.

I got my copt about 3 years ago and it didnt put me back all that much. I really dont want to part with it (I need less than 10 to finish my US set) but if the offer is obscene enough .... then maybe. Most of what I have left to find isn't that tough to get, If you trade enough of my needs, I may go that route too, but I'd need at least 3-4.
I'm looking for
1.Dead Angle
2.Poseiden Wars 3D
3.Sports pad Football
4.Sonic
5.Slap Shot
6.Space Harrier 3D
7.Super Tennis
That will Finish me on games. I'm also looking for a sports pad and 3D glasses.

Yes I am refering to James Buster Douglous Knockout Boxing. That trade list may get altered though cause I am negotiating for some of those at the moment. As mentioned before, If I did sell it, it would be for a lot. No sweet deals here. I'm not actually looking to sell, but if an offer comes up that couldnt be refused... well then ....
