I'm starting to dabble in using MAME. I'd like the whole collection or at least most of it but I'm impatient. Is there a website that would have the collection grouped into a few downloads? I have a high speed connection so dl time isn't a problem. I found a site that uses a format called bitTorrent but the program to decompress this is loaded with spyware and just plain crap. I've also seen some sites where you can get the whole collection on cd's for about $30. Is this legal? If yes, any suggestions?
thanks,
Roger

Nope. If you want to get em by mail then get 'em here: http://www.freemameroms.com/
Also, bittorrent should be self-extracting, and there definitely shouldnt be any spyware.

There are tons of bittorrent clients, and none I have ever used had spyware in them. What client are you using and what makes you say there's spyware? Torrents or newsgroups are the only easy ways to get them. Buying them isn't legal, but neither is downloading them when you get right down to it.

I actually think it was the WinRAR I downloaded to extract the files I got on http://www.grh.se/cowering/ that introduced all kinds of crap programs to my hard drive.
Any bitTorrent client suggestions?
