A local used/new record/game shop around here (Ohio) has tons of 2600 games, brand new. Every store (the 5 or so I go to) seems to have them. I asked today and they said it was a warehouse find. I guess tons of systems were found also, but they were all corroded because the room they were in had leaks and the boxes were water logged also. But the games were in a different place and were okay. ???

They have a lot of titles, River Raid, Megamania, countless others. But they want $15 each for them. I am not paying that much. I don't care if they are brand new, shrinkwrapped.

id see what games they have and if they are rare id pick um up for $15, but if it is all just junky commons then i would just forget about them.

If you need to know what 2600 games are rare, you've come to the right site. :)

1. Go to the main Digital Press page (http://www.digitpress.com/index2.htm).
2. Click on "Online Rarity Guide" in the left side bar.
3. Under "Search Details", look for the "Scarcity" heading.
4. Click "what's this?" You'll get a pop-up that explains the DP rarity ratings. As you can see, anything from R4 onward is starting to hit the UNCOMMON stage and may be worth $15 for a nice new shrinkwrapped copy.

To search for R4 and higher, choose Atari 2600 under Search Categories, and >= 4 under Scarcity.

I'm sure lots of folks on this forum (including myself) will be interested to see what you find! Sounds like it may have been an Activision warehouse from the titles you mentioned. Activision games are among the best made for the system so might be worth a little extra even if they are kinda common.

Dont nobody start gettin' excited yet... I'm in Cleveland and I've been seeing the same games. The one's I've seen are factory sealed, not shrinkwrapped (which is good). The one's I've seen are all Activision titles and some of them are for the Intellivision. None of them were rare though. The rare-est game I saw was Happy Trails, and it had an original sticker on it that talked about a sweepstakes, win two free games or something. Rarest 2600 I've seen was... oh I'll say Frostbite. I dont think there's any really "rare" Activision games from that time period anyway. Although I do think Checkers is more rare than the DP guide says, maybe a 5 instead of a 4 (just IMHO).

I was interested in them too, but like The Manimal I was not about to pay $15 for any of them, I imagine they will be sitting there for quite awhile. Still, shrinkwrapped Activision games are very tempting, even if they are all dirt-common, they are vintage, original and brand-spanking-new-looking. I know which games are rare and which are not, none of them are anywhere near rare that I've seen yet. I thought about picking up Happy Trails just because I dont have it but I would never be able to bring myself to break the seal. :o

Manimal - dont bother for $15 unless it's something you really want to have as a display piece, none of them are rare (that I've seen). If you've seen anything that's non-Activision then it has a better chance of being something above a "4" on the rarity scale.
