Found & Lost: (http://www.digitpress.com/columns/foundandlost.htm)[/b] If you’ve been collecting for any length of time, then you’ve probably accumulated a lot of cool stuff. Stuff you love. Stuff you treasure. Stuff you never touch. You know how it is: you acquire something, you’re excited about it at first, but eventually you put the item away and promptly forget about it. In other words, what once was “found” has now become “lost” (get it?) Found & Lost (http://www.digitpress.com/columns/foundandlost.htm) is all about delving into your collection, dusting off your favorites, finally firing up those untried games you’ve had for years, admiring the gaming memorabilia you’ve acquired, remembering why you wanted all this stuff in the first place. Check out William Cassidy's recent insights in this new edition of his column, HERE (http://www.digitpress.com/columns/foundandlost.htm).

Feedback and comments, as always, are welcome here!

Just read it and truly enjoyed the article. I very much like the idea and it's something everyone here can relate to I'm sure. Great to see another article on the site (and DAMN that's a lot of Castlevania stuff).

One question though, did an article get bumped for this or do the other article writers now have an extra week to prepare (i.e. procrastinate)? :)

I'm glad to see some folks enjoyed my article, and hope others will too. The idea of going back and really enjoying your collection appealed to me, since it's something I don't do enough. In each article, I'll go back and replay at least one old favorite, and try out at least one "new to me" game. I hope the column convinces others to do the same!

Feedback, constructive criticism, or suggestions for later articles are very welcome. Feel free to post here or PM me. Thanks!

Well, a lot of times i talked with Joe about a column like "Cool stuff from Southamerica" and i think he wasn´t interested...but i think it could be a nice column...

That was quite a good column.

It also brings up a very interesting point:

Great article William! I laughed, I cried, I ... left halfway through the article to go pick up some McNuggets.

If you really want some fun McDonald's gaming, pick up the PaRappa 2/Ape Escape demo disc. Released only in Japan for the PS2, the game contains McDonald's specific levels of both games as a promotional tie in prior to the game's release.

Thank you, Flack. Writing that article was cathartic since I've been on this diet for so long (trying to lower my cholesterol).

That's cool about the PaRappa 2 McDonald's levels. Overall, I'm rather impressed by the quality of the different McDonald's tie-in games (Global Gladiators excluded). Makes you wonder if the McDonald's Atari 2600 game would have been any good, had it been finished...

Enjoy an extra McNugget for me!

Scary stuff. I've been weening out my collection and getting ready to sell some stuff on Ebay. Behind my Atari computer game section I found a 2600 Vader and my Juguar which I forgot I put there to save space about a year ago. Totally forgot about those lol. :D

That Gradius poster is... just... FABULOUS! Great work, Will. :D

Great stuff!

I also have the NES ROB poster. If you look closely at the bottom, you will read "not all games might be available" or something close to that. Which indicated a very early poster, maybe the very first one.

I have many copies of that NES ROB poster, although I've never seen one with the layout that one has (ie: Gumshoe top right, Mario Bros bottom left). The poster I got with my NES back in 87 is 3 feet high and two feet wide and it does say "Not all games will be available for immediate release. Watch for them at your local dealer".

That Gradius poster is awesome, and I'd kill for the Castlevania one.

Glad you liked my article, everybody! If anybody out there is really interested in poster archiving, I'd suggest touching base with Achika or Promophile; they have some experience in this area.

I missed Halloween, but let me share a scary story about that...

Back when Konami sold those posters, you could buy one for a single game or the entire set. The first one I purchased was Castlevania, which I actually bought before ever playing the game (I was really into vampire lore at the time). It was a great poster, but one day I left it sitting out, and my father threw it away. He hated clutter and did stuff like that all the time.

So I figured I'd just buy the entire set and get my Castlevania poster back. Unfortunately, the set I received contained posters for Contra and Gradius... but no Castlevania. So I never got it back. I've seen a tiny number pop up on eBay, but they always go for more than I'm willing to pay.

Oh man... this was a GREAT read... and as a Sega fanboy in my day, I feel kind of weird having not played a couple of the great games mentioned. Now I have to go out and seek some of those, wonderful job!

I always enjoy quick and to-the-point mini reviews, especially when there are a bunch of 'em.

No way Revenge of Shinobi is better than Three. No way, no chance.

Other than that, this was a great read. Nice one on Double Dragon 3!

Great article! I know all of us have games lying around that we've never played for 15 minutes (or sometimes seconds). Sounds like you had a great weekend!

*cries* Aw... aw, man, William... I was just like you once! I disliked Sega in my elementary school days, but for whatever reason I felt to own a Dreamcast, I decided to stave off my dislike for them and I got to enjoying it. That was 1999, and I don't know why I never had a Genesis, so after hearing all these great games for it, I finally decided to snag a Genny in 1992... I love Sega. I love them, I'll write as many serenades to them as I can, I'll be gentle while making love to them...................

... uhhhhhhhhh... okay, I'm not a Segaphiliac in that sense... I still heart Nintendo too. But William, this writing really spoke to me. Anyone can change their tastes in due time, and that's just awesome. Bravo, chap, bravo. :)

Perhaps a review of the SNES masterpieve BEBE'S KIDS is in the works?

I was out hittin' the fleas all day Sunday and didn't realize this had been published. Thanks for the kind praise everyone! I really did enjoy that little immersion experiment. Since then, I've been playing the Genesis way more than anything else... Gauntlet IV (which I had actually "discovered" shortly before writing the article) and Blockout mostly. I picked up Truxton yesterday and I think that's gonna get some major playtime too. :)

No way Revenge of Shinobi is better than Three. No way, no chance.

Y'know, I'm really on the fence with those two. They're both awfully good. I'm guess I'm inclined to give the nod to Revenge because it came first... in terms of fun they seem about equal to me.

Perhaps a review of the SNES masterpieve BEBE'S KIDS is in the works?

That'll always be the dream, but I fear I am not worthy. To gaze upon the majesty of Bebe's Kids in its pure form would probably cause my eyes to bug out and my face melt away, or something.

Another episode in this truly endearing gamer's journal penned by our own O2William has gone online today.

You owe it to yourself to give it a read! Feedback, as always, is appreciated.

Great article William! The family that games together is the family that doesn't make the husband sleep alone on the couch by himself ... or, something like that. :)

Great story, William! That reminds me that Steve hasn't played SimCity 4 in quite a while... and that's one of the rare games that he likes.
