View Full Version : Got a ton of sealed games, can I get a cheap XBox somehow?

I'm sure almost everyone knows about the Circuit City deals, I bought a ton of games there today and I'm wondering if anyone knows any stores that are offering good trade-in specials or deals where I can trade some of these in to score a real cheap XBox. What would be my best route? I've heard Gamerush mentioned a lot, but there aren't any in my state (Pennsylvania). So does anyone have any suggestions? I posted the games I got in the other thread, but I'll duplicate it here just in case it helps:

PS2
Robin Hood: Defender of the Crown
Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance
Futurama
Dark Cloud 2
Wild Arms 3
Clock Tower 3
Resident Evil Dead Aim
Mega Man X7
Defender
Chaos Legion
Spy Hunter 2
The Bouncer
Mystic Heroes
Legaia 2
World Rally Championship
Roadkill

Gamecube:
Bomberman Generations
Resident Evil Code Veronica X
4x4 Evolution 2
Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance

GBA:
Max Payne
Shining Soul
Stuntman
Lufia
Lunar Legend
Mega Man & Bass

There are a few I want to keep for sure, but even more that I wouldn't care parting with since I'll probably never get to play them anyway. I've heard Gamecrazy has some good trade-in deals, but I can't find anything on their website about any good recent promotions.

I know this might sound silly but just take them to your local stores. Just ask them what you can get for them. Don't let them open them unless you want to trade them. They can't force you to trade them just say you changed your mind. You could sell them on Ebay too.

Well, eBay is currently flooded with all these games, so I doubt that's the best route. I could try to haul them to stores, but I just wanted to know if anyone here knew of any specific deals that I could really benefit from before I started to shop some of these games around.

well you got a good haul and I would think you could get $10-$15 for most and maybe more in some cases. depending on how many you want to keep that would more than pay for an Xbox. If you want to go that route PM me a list you are willing to part with.

You can trade in some of the games a for Xbox system, after getting the games from CC, I ended up trading 3 Xbox games to GS for Medabots Infinity Gamecube as I feel I won't be playing those at all.

Or you could offer them to fellow board members ;)

Do you know if GS is running a special deal or do I have to just trade in a ton of games for it? I only want the XBox if I'm getting an awesome deal on it (like trading in 10 CC games or something).

If those were $5 each, that's $130, right? How much is an Xbox these days?

Just curious ...

Xbox systems are 149.99 brand new.

Gamestop was and maybe is running a special where you can trade in an old N64 (Working) or a few other systems (cant remember) and get 30 dollars in credit :D

Also the Game Stops near me post a list of trade in values on certain games.
Hope that was of some help for you ;)

I think flak is saying take the games back for $130 and buy the Xbox instead.

Gamestop has coupons giving you an extra $3 per game excluding sports and wrestling but that's only up to 5 games. You could go back several times in one day to get all the extra or go to several GS. GameRush also had some crazy trade in deals, HZC would know more about that. I think Wisesalesman also had a recent thread about it (What would HZ do?)

if you have an FYE near you, they take trade-ins

If it was me, I'd hold the stuff until Thanksgiving, and then sell on ebay. Christmas buyers will pay outrageous prices.

OK, I've read some suggestions, still not sure what I'm doing though.

Flack, I'm trying to figure out a way to get a $50-$60 XBox, not trade in all my CC games for one......because you're right, it would be easier to just buy one. I'm only interested in getting a great deal on one, otherwise I don't think it's worth the money. If I can somehow trade 10-12 $5 games for an XBox, I'd do it. Plus, there are a lot of games that I bought that I want to keep. It's just that I know I'm not going to have time to really get into stuff like Wild Arms 3, Legaia 2, Dark Cloud 2, etc.

Gamerush does seem to have awesome deals, but alas, there are none in my homestate of PA.....bastards. Tons of Blockbusters, but no Gamerush.

For now, I'm going to wait until this weekend's sale to see if I can score any more $4.99 games before I do anything. There are a few more games on that list I'd like to score, and I think all of the CC's near me have pulled all of the $5 games off the shelf to put out for this Sunday. Once I (hopefully) get more, I'll decide what to do then.

Well, I'd suggest trading games into a FYE store if you're looking to buy any modern games. I bought two copies of Pro Race Driver for X-Box for 5 bucks a pop, and FYE gave me 27 bucks for each of them. That was delicious.

The Haunted Mansion gets you 18 bucks
R.A.D gets you 17 bucks

I heard rumors that Roadkill and Go Go Hypergrind got you 26 bucks.
