What is the longest you have went playing a game straight w/o stopping (except for like to use the restroom, eat, ect ect, NOT SLEEP)
I dont know the exact time on this, but the Day the SNES came out, I beat Super Mario World in 1 session. It will be close to that, or Dragon Warrior 4 I played for about 15 hours straight or so.
I'd say the longest I've played a game in a single session would be about 33 hours on Final Fantasy VII. That was about 3 years ago at a friend's house and we were trying to beat the game in one sitting.

I have a short attention span, so the longest I have played a game in one sitting is about 7 hours. I was playing Super Metroid.

:D Easy! That would be when I brought home the original Metroid for NES, just under 18 hours from start to finish, I was just so hooked on it, my friend fell asleep but I awoke him to show him the end, ah good times!

I have played a few games for 12 hours or more;
DOOM
Civ 2
Theme PArk
the longest arcade style game that I have played was 12 hours with a one player game of Gauntlet on the C64, I couldn't pause the game, and had to run to the kitchen and back in 30 seconds, if I was in a treasure room.
The longest that I have played a coin-op in an arcade is just over an hour with a single coin on Adams Family pinball.

I remember the day after I found Shining Force II, I woke up at 6:30 AM and continued my game, I was almost a quarter of the way through. Throughtout the day, I kept on playing, except for the usualy breaks. Eventually, I got to the final 2 bosse's around midnight, when I finally hate to quit.
So, 17 1/2 hours.

Nearly 12 hours straight on Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine was one of the highlights of my marathon gaming career. Now, this is TWO player, and we played all night, as well as making bad bean jokes the ENTIRE time...and we weren't drunk or stoned!
I've also clocked about the same amount of time on several PC FPSs such as Doom, Hexen, Heretic, AvP and others. I've played so long that my eyes dried out and I was unable to blink before. That REALLY REALLY hurts.
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty PS2: 48 straight hours. :D
Didn't it get boring after the sixth time through?
LAN games shouldn't count but I never really played a game for more than a few hours except at LANs, so Duke3D is my Nr.1 with 20 hours straight - One of the last good FPSs

When I was in college, we had two straight class cancellations due to a huge snowstorm. Did I spend that valuable time studying or putting the finishing touches on my "The Influence of the Needle Gun on the Franco-Prussian War" paper? No. I spent those two days up to my elbows in Metroid Prime. I spent roughly 15 hours on it the first day and about 13 or 14 on it the second day. By the end of the first session, the image of Samus' visor was essentially burned onto my retinas... I think my vision returned to normal after about thirty minutes. Good times...

Their are a couple of games that when I first played them I was hooked and needed more until the game was beaten.
Super Metroid
Resident Evil 2
Castlevania SOTN
Actually, if I remember right, I called into work when I got SOTN. I remember telling my girlfreind at the time that I would stop playing when I beat the game which would be in about 10 min. I didn't know about the upside down castle, man she was pissed! LOL

I use to be a Gunbound addict, and ended up playing for about 14 hours straight. The game is just so addicting.

I have had many nights without sleep due to games. I have no clue as to how many hours, but I would start playing when it was light out, and then stop playing again when it was light out. The games I can remember playing were these:
Manhunt (I was playing with a friend that would like to run out and try to fight with his fists when they had machetes)
DBZ: Budokai 2
Red Dead Revolver (the multiplayer could have easily been played for days on end, but I had to work)
Those are all I can think of right now.

Let's see....it's either 15 hours on Metal Gear Solid, or probably about a comparable amount of time on either Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy VI or Chrono Trigger. On the days I bought those last three (MGS was a rental) I just playerd until I passed out (this was prior to being of age when one gets a job).

Super Bass Fishing for the SNES. Almost twelve hours, which is by far the longest I have ever played one game continuously. To this day I still don't know how or why I played for so long. @_@

It's not one straight session, but one of my friends in high school had a game of Sensible World of Soccer on the Amiga that he didn't turn off for 2-3 months :) He would play a little before school, then leave it paused all day, continue in the evening and pause it overnight. I'm surprised his Amiga didn't blow up in the end :)

It's funny that Necrasaro420 started this thread, because I played Dragon Warrior 4 for like some insane amount of days straight when it launched. I dont know exact times but I guarantee I had single sessions WELL over 24-30 hours! During Christmas break all I used to do is play games!

Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom for NES
I played this for 15 or 16 hours straight from start to end, first time I ever played it. GREAT GAME!!!
I know I've said it many times before, but all fans of Shadowgate, Deja Vu and Uninvited must play this game.

I think I know what I'm going to set up the next time my family goes out of town. :D
When I first discovered Chrono Trigger two years ago, I played it for about nine hours straight.
When I first discovered Symphony of the Night last year, after I got the reverse castle I played through the rest of the game in one sitting, no memory of how long that took...
When I finally plugged in that copy of Granada for the MD I picked up, I sat there for about four or five hours playing over and over until I was able to beat it. Did the same thing with MD Verytex about a week ago...almost. Continued a half dozen times but wasn't able to ever beat the final boss...f'n nails. @_@

I played Morrowind for 43 hours straight once....
I just kept trading with that stupid crab, over and over again, to get more $$$ (only the crab had enough $$$ to buy all the expensive crap I found).
Then, like 2 weeks later, my save got corrupted.
I never touched that game again. It was so much fun though, I can't wait until the next one. I'll be all over it.
Other long game sessions:
-All 120 stars for Mario 64 in one session
-I did 3 or 4 GT3 Endurance races in 1 day once.

12+ hours on Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Trigger. But for the next three days I'll be in NY with a bunch of friends, and we're brining a GC to the hotel. We plan on getting drunk at a bar and then going back to the room to play Double Dash and fighters all night, so maybe I'll beat that record LOL

I'd say the longest I've played a game in a single session would be about 33 hours on Final Fantasy VII. That was about 3 years ago at a friend's house and we were trying to beat the game in one sitting.
Did you beat it?
20+ hours on FFXI but my roomie went 48, EASY!

I played Breath Of Fire IV for over 18 hours straight from the beginning! Only briefly stopping to go to the lav and to grab a pizza I ordered over the phone...
Twas magical I can tell you! I was so engrossed in that game!
I can also claim to have spent a good couple of 16 hour sessions on FF7 when it first came out - I skived off school for two whole weeks to play that, and almost got suspended!!!
I also managed to drag out a game of Age Of Empires II to well over 13 hours once! And I still didn't finish the battle - I saved it, and carried it on the day after for about another 10 hours!
C&C Red Alert II is another game which can keep me occupied for hours on end too! I just lose hours and minutes playing that and AOE II!

Geesh, I've played so many games....
There are numerous games I've sunk 6-8 hours into straight, only taking time to go to the bathroom, grab something to eat, etc.
And there's a few I can recall playing for around 10 hours -- Final Fantasy games, Morrowind, Europa Universalis II (PC game), Suikoden 2, some Koei games.....
Best I can recall, the longest session I ever did was back in college when I was playing Civ II. It was a Sunday, and during my college days I would try to cram all my homework into Sat so I had Sunday free to do what I wanted. I woke up early on Sunday (I'd say around 9 AM) cause I was'nt feeling all that great. I had just recently gotten a new version of Civ II, so I fired it up and started playing. Only taking breaks to get food and bathroom I was on that PC until 1 AM Monday morning -- 16 hours. I finally finished my game and crashed into bed, thanking the Lord above that that semester my only class and commiment on Monday was a 6:30 night class. I think it was about 4 PM by the time I woke up. LOL

Way back in '00 :evil laugh: I switched with a co-driver on LeMans 24 Hours for Dreamcast.
Also, recently went through a good 9+ hrs on StarCon 2 for 3DO.
Easily among the best titles for the system; Greatest voice-overs! :argue:
--Oh yeah, did another 9+ stint on RE: 4 too
I played Star Wars KOTOR for over 15 hours yesterday without turning it off. I've had MANY Phantasy Star Online sessions on the Dreamcast that went near the 24 hour mark.

Wow - no MMORPG's to speak of!
My record would be with either Civ 1 or Civ 2. Sitting down and playing one game from start to finish. Say 13ish hours? I generally have zero idea how much time I'm spending when i play Civ :)
