Argh, I resisted buying the U.S. Classic NES series, since I have all the original NES games anyway, but I'll probably have to plunk down for Castlevania if it comes out here. Just can't resist buying a "new" version of that game...

Curse you, Nintendo, and your brilliantly evil marketing! It's extortion, I tell ya! :)

Don't get too excited. There's no guarantee that any of these will be released in the US (same goes for the second series, or has that been announced?). If anything, they'd probably release the five that Americans have already played and not let us get any of the games that are new to us. :/ They already screwed us out of Mappy and Star Soldier (two of the best releases from the first line-up; who the hell needs the millionth port of some of those?).

For me it doesn't really matter, though. If there's anything I want, I'll import. I'd still like to get TwinBee from the second line-up. Sadly I don't know much about those Japanese-only FDS games. :/ I sure have heard of Shin Onigashima a hell of a lot, though. Seems to be regarded as a huge classic in Japan. Some of the other titles ring a bell too.

I NEED SMB2. The SMB Deluxe version didn't have all the levels, so this is one instance where we can all see the advantage of getting this one. I assume they'll bring it out here, on account that it's mario, but even if they don't, it's import worthy.

The carts will be yellow to match their FDS counterparts...

Oh, and I imagine that Nintendo will only release the 4 of those that we got (SMB2 won't make it I'm guessing) originally.

I wish we got the cool packaging over here like the japanese carts have. I would be much more tempted to buy these, since I already own the originals of most of the classic series games. :o

Nintendo will probably never bother releasing anything that didn't previously get a release in the West. It annoys the hell out of me, cause if they did I'd sure be much more excited about this series. I would love to try out the Famicom Tantei Club games, and Shin Onigashima. Unfortunately with text adventures being a non existant market over in the US, the chances of Nintendo bothering to translate them is zero. To make matters worse, Shin Onigashima displays it's text vertically, so it wouldn't be an easy task for a translation group to attempt.

The only positive thing about this set, is being able to get FDS games without having to get an FDS. (They are easily prone to breaking.) I will be very tempted to pick up Nazo no Murasame and Zelda II. Maybe Super Mario 2 as well.

Now the question is do I wait and get the english version of Zelda 2 or import the Japanese version to match the Japanese Zelda I already own.

Hmm...

Cool, I love the Famicom colors of the previous two series. The yellow should look really spiffy. :)

As for SMB2, we got it in Super Mario All-Stars and some of it in SMB Deluxe, so I think it's likely that the US will get it (if we get any of them, that is).

Bah! Pretty weak line up. If it's wasn't for kid icarus and castlevania i wouldn't care (already have like 10 versions of metroid). Also what ever happien with the goemon release? Was that part of the second series?

Judging by the maps at GameFAQs, I take it it's a Zelda clone with a Japanese theme? Looks pretty cool. :)

It is pretty similar to Zelda. A bit more action packed, with more emphasis on battling enemies than puzzles. It is a good game, and it's very challenging. A pity Nintendo didn't bring it over along with Metroid, Kid Icarus, and Zelda back in the day. It's worth a look.

I'm still waiting for Dr. Mario and Balloon Fight from the second series to make it over here.

Then I want the SMB2J. But that's it. All three are Import-worthy, but I'd prefer the first two come out in the US.

Are any of those games Japanese text-heavy? I know neither of them really need a person to know any Japanese, but I want to know. I really want all three, but $90 to import them.. I'd rather it be $70.

If you want a portable SMB2j, just get Super Mario Bros. DX, score 300,000 points (i think) in smb1, and there you have it.

No damn way. I had it. I fucking hate scrolling! Also, you need to EARN the damn Lost Levels. Screw that! Plus, on a GBA screen, I'm not going to play the game on an even SMALLER screen.

DX sucks plain and simple when you compare it to the real thing.

The cartridge releases for Super Mario Bros. games were yellow as well, actually.

I already have most all of these games so I can't really say I care about the rerelease, but it's all good for Nintendo.

Holy Jesus.

Kid Icarus, Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link, AND Metroid? These will go perfectly with my Famicom-themed GBA SP. I hope translation issues aren't too big of a deal with Zelda 2... I was able to remember all the dialog in the first Zelda game when I played the Japanese version. C'mon people... Red and white cartridge + Japanese title screen = Greatness. Those three are DEFINITE pick-ups. Man. Kid Icarus. Oh me, oh my.

It's a crappy port. The screen is too small, there's no differences between mario and luigi, hell, not all the levels are even in the game!

I'd rather get this.

give it a try
it's a must play!
The atmosphere is amazing and it has kickass music
it is also faster than Zelda(gameplaywise)
you run through levels(birdview-like Zelda) nad slash hundrets of enemies with your sword.
here's a pic of the cover(it's the one with the samurai lady):

I keep getting emails from nintendo to register my classic series for extras. The mention the normal screensavers and codes but they also elude to something eles. At any rate I'm looking forward to the next generation of GBA classic games.
