I recently won a lot off ebay. It contained 2 sega nomads and a game gear. The guy said one of the nomads didn't work.
Anyway, the guy was right - one works and one doesn't. The broken one has working guts - if you hook it up to a TV it shows up fine. The problem is the LCD screen - it has a large crack in it. Anyway, I was wondering if there is some way to replace the screen, and if anyone here can tell me where to get replacement parts or if anyone here fixes them as a job / hobby.

I don't even really know how to open it up (that or I just was scared off by the idea...) but I think most "replacement screens" you'll see on eBay are just the outer plastic screen; not very useful if the screen itself is broken.
I'd say...the Nomad makes a nice alternative to the Genesis 3 :>

I was able to open it alright - it uses 5 regular screws and one wierd screw - you have to break the wierd screw to get it open X_x . I found a place that would fix the broken screen on google, but they want 135 pounds [200 bucks!] and then you would have to add the shipping charges - from the US to britain and back. Suffice it to say, thats kinda high - you could buy 3 working nomads for that. I'd like to find a way to fix it that cost less then 30 bucks, if possible.

I have one with a cracked screen also. I'd intended to ask this same question.
Any ideas folks?

i'm thinking the best bet would be to try and find "non-working" nomads with an intact LCD screen on the super cheap, hoping that it's only the board/PCU with problems rather than the screen, swap screens and off ya go.

I remember seeing Nomad screens sold online.
They weren't referred as Nomad screens, though, 'cause other appliances used the same screens, too.
I can't remember the site, part number or anything, I was looking for LCD modules when I came across them. Try to find the part number and go from there.

i had this same question
im thinking all you need to do is look up the specs for the screen and just find one with the same specs
