View Full Version : Balloon - What was that 1980's game called????
Hombres....something's driving me crzay. In the early 1980's there used to be a video/arcade game where a balloon needed to be navigated up through a series of levels. On the way there was the usual number of hurdles...spikes which burst the balloon and faces which puffed-up their cheeks and blew it against rocks, etc.
What on earth was it called and is it still available as a classic....and on what platform(s)?

Balloon Fight perhaps? Or Pooyan? Do you have any more info on the game? "Popping balloons" is a bit vague. Characters? Manufacturer? Anything unusual that might narrow it down?

Another one I'm thinking of is Gust Buster... but in that one you're not guiding it upwards, per se, but rather "across".

That is for sure. Once you say faces blowing there is no doubt it's Crazy Balloon. :D I don't know what loony balloon is, but like oswilliam says it's a probably a good guess it's based on Crazy Balloon.
Incidentally, the game was re-released in Japan for the PSX (Crazy Balloon 2000) which had the original and a remixed version of it. It's probably the best version you're going to find of the game at the moment because Mame does NOT emulate this game well with little to no sound.
That's it....thanks all. It was Crazy Balloon. The version we used to play had significantly better graphics (pub/arcade version I guess).
