This place I always go to has a CD-i I just noticed about a week. I am getting mixed reviews so far about weather or not it is worth it to buy it or it would just be a waste of money. Gimme your input?

It all depends.
What are your motives for collecting? Some collect because they're fascinated by all video games regardless of how good they are (these are the people who buy and keep Channel Fs.) Others only collect games and systems that are fun to play. From what I've heard the CD-I is not a particularly fun system to play, so you might want to take that into account. On the other hand, if you fall into the first category (as I do) then it would make an interesting piece to add to your collection.
What does it come with? Does it have the controllers? Any games? All the cords? I bought a Goldstar 3D0 awhile back for $18, but it didn't come with anything but the console. While I'm glad I got it, I'm disappointed that I didn't at least get a controller with it for that price.
Ultimately for me, the big question would be how much is it? If it was $15 I'd snatch it up. If it was $25, I'd be doing a lot of humming and hawing. If it was over $30 I would only consider it if it came with everything (controllers, hookups, possibly a game or two.)
The camp value of the infamous Zelda games alone would make it worthwhile to me!

Most of the "games" for it are edutainment or aren't games but ive been given the title of about 10-15 games that are supposed to be good and i dont know the stock or games available just that there were roughly 75-100 that i saw and they did have some . I would definately not collect only for the fun value either i dont care how bad a game is if it is worth money and i can get it cheap i will.

The developers tried hard and there were some innovative games, like "Voyeur" but the problem was that, like most of the early CD-based games and software, it was basically about showing grainy little movies. The games too often were excuses to show the greenscreen cinematics.
Again, a few hot games -- including a sci-fi shooter whose name eludes me -- emerged on the system and, especially if you have a youngster and access to the software, there are lots of edutainment projects (including at least one that used the Mario license!) they should enjoy.

Lots of great opinions on the system can be found in this thread:

If they have Burn Cycle buy it and the system. The Zelda games are interesting to check out because they are so bad....but are very expensive. Hotel Mario is fun but gets really hard.

The CD-i is a system that people buy for collection purposes only. There were a few good games but not many. I have two of the tree Zelda games for the CD-i, and i am going to say right now that they are for my Zelda Collection, because they suck.
