I usually go to a store that has a professional resurfacer. They run about $1500 to buy one, so I can't afford one. Those things make a disc like-new flawless. A lot of video stores have them these days, and some game stores. Find out what store has one and go spend the $3-5 to get your disc resurfaced. Unlike disc doctoring or other quick fixes, this DOES work. It's the only resurfacing I'll consider at all.

i dont know anywhere that has one of these, but thankfully i dont need one yet....so your saying that chances are my local blockbuster or hollywood video may have one that i could have them use for a fee??

I have just been sending banged up cd's and dvd's to The house of cards and games. So far they have done a good job fixing them up for me. Estarland does it also. Though they tend to be slow.

Toothpaste makes a great polish for buffing out small scratches that cause problems. It doesn't make the disc look pretty, but it makes it playable. ;-) Use some lotion free toilet paper to buff, and work in an in-out motion. Do NOT scrub circles or buff around the disc. Go perpendicular to the read direction.
