I think any site that does is pretty much a joke.

Umm... I know you're new and all, but is it really necessary to use tons of exclamation points for a simple question???????????????

Gamespot (http://www.gamespot.com) and Gamestats (http://gamestats.com) are good bets.

i dont think that there is any site out there that does and is accurate.....i mean..just look at the random deals such as the recent $4.99 Circuit City sale......so, I mean, during those sales, the value of the game is pretty much $4.99, and when the sale is over the value changes.....so, to keep up with prices, the site would need to update every single day and would need to know the price of the game pretty much everywhere it is sold.....so, getting an accurate value is pretty much impossible.

The only one I've ever heard of is IGN, But I agree with maxlords, "they are telling you how much your personal collections is worth" who cares what they think. I'll tell you what would be cool is if one of these hardcore vintage game collectors would go on the "antique roadshow" or something.

PlayRight (uk.playright.dk) is a decent collection listing site with European/PAL slant at the moment, but the value calculation is as much a joke as IGN. I doubt you'll be able to find a reliable one anywhere.

You know, it's funny but this question does come up pretty often.

I have a decent collection, I think, but it never really concerns me how much the whole thing is worth. When I look for values it's usually of a single item or two for when I'm buying or trading, or in that exciting moment when I think I've found a great deal.

For those of you asking, are you considering selling your collection someday? Or is it just sheer curiousity? I ask because I AM curious :)

Personally I don't put much thought into what I buy as far as value goes. To me it's all about whether or not it will be enjoyed and appreciated for years to come. That's all nice and good that you have Atari protos and things like that, but that kind of stuff doesn't really mean anything to me because I know it won't be appreciated for it's play value, which is 99% of what I'm concerned with when I buy a game. I use IGN for my collection because it's fairly easy to do, has a fairly complete listing (unlike some of you, I'm not listing anything for uber-hardcore consoles or many imports). I wish Guzzlefish was more up to date with their game section, as it's pretty barren for pre-ps1 stuff now and their submittal system is a pain in the ass, that way I could have my games/cds/dvds all in one convenient location.

Don't forget stroking the ego. Feels good when your treasure's worth more then someone elses. :P

Lighten up.No, he shouldn't, because I agree. I hate when someone posts a topic asking a question, but writing it as an answer. I came in here thinking that someone FOUND a site good enough. BIIIIG DISAPPOINTMENT. :o

Haha!

Dude, if that was a BIIIIG DISAPPOINTMENT then life must be a regular joyride for you. Why must people NITPICK on little things like this? Have you never made a typo or steered slightly off of the "acceptable" forum syntax?

It's an open forum. Not everyone knows the exact way YOU like it.

So yeah. Lighten up.

I just like to know for sheer curiosity. And also cause I need to insure my collection and have to document the value for insurance porpises.

Well if you really wanted to see how much your collection would sell for you could wait around until 10 cent listing days on ebay, post it as an auction and blow off the winner. Not reccomended of course as it's an assholish thing to do. But it would work. :P
