View Full Version : Secret Santa.. who's interested?

Those of you who were around last year may remember this.. And here's a recap for those of you who weren't.
I'm looking to see how many people are interested in a Secret Santa-type name swap for Christmas. If we get enough people, we'll collect info on who collects for which system (in other words, a hint of something they need or would be looking for), and match up names. The person you get will not know that you have their name. We're looking for SERIOUS people only; don't sign up if you can't/won't/don't plan on sending anything. This only works when people actually participate.
Obviously, we don't expect anyone to be sending out 10s and 9s, etc. And the converse of that... don't be sending out 30 E.T. carts to anyone. But what you send is up to you. And you'll be getting something in return, from someone else.
So, all I want right now is a show of hands.. Who might be interested in this?

Wow, this is a LOT more response than I'd anticipated, especially overnight! Okay, since we're getting close to Christmas (if you judge by the department stores..), I'll do this: I'll leave this thread running through Friday. If anyone else wants to participate in Secret Santa, post on this thread. I'll lock it Saturday morning, get all the names, and get shipping information from each of you (your Santa won't be coming down your chimney). And PLEASE remember: you'll be known as a deadbeat forever if you sign up, but don't follow through. If you run into problems, contact me, so we can work on some alternative. Thanks again, guys!

#1- After I close this thread (Saturday morning), I'll make a new post about where to send your info (ie shipping address, want list, etc). Please do NOT post it here.
#2- I don't really see a problem with gift cards, Kaine, however, be aware that everyone who is participating might not have access to Toys R Us. And, based on last year, this was been more of a swap, rather than people really going out and buying things. Who wants to add another name to shop for to the list? I guess my final word would be, wait and see who you get, and if it comes down to the card or nothing, then go with the card.

I only mentioned TRU since I work there I can get what I need there and gift card(s) if I can't deicde anything else for my person, or based on time and whatnot.
Ehem.. I'm in, me thinks. I sincerely hope I don't have to back out, if so, I'll edit my post before friday. :-)

Here's a suggestion: What if with our addresses we post our intrests in regards to game consoles we play and collect for, or other stuff they enjoy?
That way it gives the person who gets them a better idea what to buy or swap with them.

...and bologna ROCKS!
