I have some issues with both NIV for GB(Wisdom Tree game) and ISS Soccer 2000(US version) for the N64 both scoring a 5 on the rartiy. Why such a low number? I have been collecting for several years and have both these games, but I have only seen one copy in person....mine :D . Is this a possible oversight on rarity? I believe these two games to be extremely hard to find and I would go as far as to say that ISS Soccer 2000 is one of the hardest games to find for the US N64 set(I have acquired about 3/4 of the set already). Anyone have some info on this?

NIV is a 6 in the guide, not a 5. It ranks with only the Sachen games as far a US GB "Classic" rarities.

6 is still low, then I feel that the Sachen games should be higher too. I apologize for messing up, but that still does not explain why ISS Soccer 2000 is a 5. I would put both at a seven. That is just me, but I feel that I am now at a place in my collecting that I can justify questioning the rarity of some games.

Trust me - don't open the can of worms which is 'higher than 6 on the GB' with Sir Etler. TRUST ME. ;D

I respect Mike Etler to the highest degree. I also know that he is one of the original people to have constructed a rarity list for the Nes. I used it. That doesnt mean that people are perfect or that they dont make mistakes. Seriously though, NIV for the Gameboy is pretty rare. I have only seen one. I have been collecting for about 10 years, and have traveled the West Coast. It is just a disagreement we have. I have alot of games and am a serious collector as well. I have over 45 unique different systems and 3500 different games. Does that mean Im perfect? Nope. I bring these things up for people to review that maybe there was an oversight on a rarity. It happens. The DP rarity guide is a guide, not the Bible. It is an awsome book that has helped collectors like me in so many ways...however like I said before, I am at a point in my collecting in which I can form my own opinion on what is rare. Again, what is up with ISS Soccer 2000????

Well, I'm not saying don't disagree with him - I'm just saying that he presents a VERY strong argument for his case. I dealt with it in casual discussions on the SNES. Just IMO.

Don't mind Portnoyd's comments. He's still trying to get over our little discussion over the former definitions of rarity used for the DP guides.
Yes, NIV is hard to find, but whether it belongs in the top 25% of games for all systems remains to be seen. Since GB collecting is almost non-existant at this point, I can say that very few games don't turn up at least every couple of months on eBay or are readilly available via EB, Gamestop and the like. A title like NIV is a little trickier to find from a game retailer, but religious stores still have WT games in stock and a seller on eBay has been selling NIB copies of NIV recenlty (two this month went for $14.95 (BiN) and $13.77 (3 bids). While I think the game can (and most likely will) be a '7' at some point, I think the availability at the moment knocks it down a bit.
I think part of it might also have to do with the way rarity is defined by the DP guide. Unlike a single-system rarity list which is based on estimated (and sometimes known) production levels, the scale is universal across all systems and takes into account both supply & demand. Since it's trying to determine how hard a game is to come by today instead of how many copies of a game were made at the time, games with simillar production runs can easilly be seperated by 1 or 2 positions. As GB collecting picks up (which it will), there will be '7's and maybe even an '8' or two (though unless we're talking complete with box & manual, it might be a while).
I value your input and hope more people take the time to look over the Game Boy lists and offer comments.

Thank you for your compliment, I will continue to do my part to help overcheck the lists and do my part to contribute. Thanks for getting back with an informative response.
