Mega Man 3 Prototype. Hoax or Real?

Off of a P2P network of either Gnutella, Gnutella 2 or EMule, I downloaded a supposed prototype of Mega Man 3. I searched these very forums for any mention of it, but I couldn't find any.

I played it, and it looks to be the same to me.

Anyolne heard about this? I'm saying it's a hoax for now...or at best a release candidate, but that's probably not even true.

It was purchased from eBay and dumped by Kevin Horton. Yes, it's real, and there are a couple very minor differences.
