View Full Version : the number 1 reason why you like GTA: Vice City?

Ok, I know the GTA: VC topics have been beat to death and then beat some more, but....I don't know about you but I still play VC all the time! I was thinking, what is the one reason I keep coming back for more? And it was this...

It let's me roam a massive, living city, which is something I've always wanted to do in real life. Just be able to roam a huge city. Call me silly, but this is what keeps me coming back.]

So what is the ONE reason you like Vice City? Even if you hate the game, you have to admit that a LOT of work went into creating this, and it's a true work of art. The game is amazing.

I'm a complete Vice City addict too. I think the thing that keeps bringing me back is the sheer size of the city and all the things you can do in it. I've played hundreds of hours of Vice City and still haven't done everything.

Vice City is one of the best games of all time.

The fact that I can sit down, do absolutely nothing to advance the storyline and still have fun, turn the machine off, and come back and do it again the next day.

Second that!

Its funny, because its all about finding a new cool jump for me. Or finding a jump and then trying driffrent cars or even scooters to see if they can make it or how they handle the jump driffrent.

What's the one thing I like about Vice City?

The fact I don't like Vice City, most overrated game ever.

Getting it on with hookers in an alley, then hitting them with my car, getting out and beating them to death with a baseball bat. The game is wrong with a capital WRONG, and I like that about it.

SF - Excorising his misogynistic fantasies in a video game since 2003.

The soundtrack...I love 80's one-hit wonders :embarrassed:Ditto that. The only reason I do like it. I don't even play it. It bored me and I got stuck. But the music is teh b0mb.

I myself hate the GTA games with a passion. Though i'll give them credit for having slayer, judas priest, maiden and David Lee Roth on the soundtrack.

I don't play my copy anymore, but I like the GTA series because of their innovativeness. You are able to do anything, and that's what is innovative. First class gameplay.

I just had this conversation with a friend of mine a couple days ago...

I think it's probably in the top 5 games ever made so far (if not number 1), for the sheer openess of it. Like you guys have mentioned, there's something inexplicably cool about exploring that city, swiping any car you like, finding new jumps, and listening to the music.

It's game design at its best.

Haven't played it yet (or GTA 3 for that matter)

<ducks!>

I would probably put Vice City somewhere in the top ten among my favorite games of all-time, if not the top five. I've played through it twice and I don't play it as often as I used to but I still pick it up every now and then and will probably play through it again someday (but not until after I beat GTA3, I'm playing through that for the first time).

It's chock-full of things to do and once I start playing the hours just fly. It's also a nice way for me to let off some steam if I'm having a rough day.

Actually I like GTA 3 much better 8-)
I grew up in the 80's also and I do like Vice City its just that I like the mood and atmosphere of GTA3 better.

LOL I was going to say the same thing. He beats that game in his sleep.

The reason I play this game a ton is because of the freedom you get. You can go anywhere and do almost anything you want.

le geek: Go get it, you'll enjoy it.

I like the ability that I can just cruise around the city until I see some car or person I like or don't like and just get off my vehicle and beat the shit out of whoever I want whenever I want.

For me its a tie between the soundtrack and the size and amount of things to do in Vice City.

I agree with your reason. :)

But don't like the game. I grew tired of constantly killing people. It made me feel dirty & sick.. I prefer Pirates! It gives you the same "roaming ability" but with little gore.

I too like the roaming and killing whenever and where I want. Kinda takes the fun outta doing it for real thou. Ok that was bad. :P

And what Oobgarm said about playing for a while and still not get any further in the storyline. Love it.

Sometimes I like to just roam around a drive the speed limit, be a good boy, but someone always sideswipes me and I wind up uzi'ing there ass. Then the cops chase me, then I throw grenades at em, then I hit 4 wanted stars and it's all over.

death.

Lather, rinse, repeat.
