Isn't ET the game that Atari made so many copies of that it almost made them go bankrupt? Didn't they bury a whole bunch of them in the desert?

My friend came home from school one day and found E.T. in his Atari and the joystick handle broken off. Turns out his dad had been playing it and got a little frustrated ...
