The modchip I even installed without solder!
I am proud of myself because I have no soldering iron/solder but being to impatient I literally threaded the wire between the pins of the chip and twisted it until it was firmly connected, very hard and tedious precise work, I have never heard of anyone installing without solder but to my surprise it worked! Perhaps I will solder properly at a later time. Then I stuck in my backup of Deep Fear and....nothing, disc not recognized, but then I stuck in my Action Replay 4in1 cartridge (brand new) and loaded it again, and presto, it booted up perfectly!!!!!! The cartridge was new still in package when I received it and adds four functions: 1. Extra storage RAM
2. Gameshark like cheat functions 3. Extra game RAM (required by a few titles) 4. Disables Region LOCK which is why I was able to boot Deep Fear! Basically I have a Saturn because of that cartridge and the modchip I can boot every title ever produced worldwide and as CDR backups which I will get for about $1 US each in future, and I already have 12 titles because I downloaded them previously! Currently I am in negotiations for a 3DO interactive multi player which originally debuted at $799, it doesn't require a modchip to boot backups at all. I ordered a system with all hook-ups and controller WITH 20 backup titles for just $65 US shipped, pretty damn good I think

I`d highly recommend you to solder the blue wire.....it will be much safer if you move your saturn around.....

Oh I definitely plan on doing a proper solder job to both wires, I was just broke when I received everything but desperate to play! It's justa tempoary fix! :)

Well it works, I see you're tapped into +5 volts with the red wire. Understand that you're in a hurry to try it out but I can't suggest enough for you to wait until you can properly solder things in place, in the long term patience is much more rewarding. ;)

About the region lock, you can take care of that in a meriad of ways with the jumper settings on the underside of the motherboard. I did the switchless mod two weeks ago myself.

No probs Bratwurst, I a happy using Pro Action 4in1 for region lock disable, a few of my backups wouldn't boot but once cartridge is plugged in everything boots........................

That cart 'may' not be able to do region switch and save/RAM functions simultaneously.

And ixnay on buying pirated software a.

Buying pirate stuff is wrong, dead console or not.

Yeah I know, I am not about to get into that debate, I don't condone it, nor am I even going to try to claim I do it to save my originals (does anyone buy that? OK SOME of you do that but come on, not most of you) and you'll find discussions on the right and wrong of bootleg games throughout the forum. That said, I bought the hardware but I don't want to collect the games, I just want to play them, again right or wrong it's for each person to make their own moral call on that subject. You will find several topics throughout this forum regarding modchips, emulation, etc, I respect your opinion but there are other posts that discuss the rights or wrongs of it......................................

You know...I was never able to get any games to recognise that particular Action Replay cart to save games while playing the game. You can transfer save data from the Saturn and back when you're in the Action Replay control screen but that's about it. Maybe I'm doing something wrong...

Over at Atari Age this particular issue was brought up about third party memory cards as well. Seems to be a common thing.
