Im finally at the end of my first year of collecting and have ended up with right around 1000 games, including maybe 30-60 dupes. and 53 systems, which 10 are playstations. so i was wondering how many games did you get in your first year of collecting? Just wondering because to me 1000 games seems like a hell of a lot to aquire in one year

In my first year....hmm. I'd say around 20. I've always been a spartan buyer though, and now after nearly 10 years I still have just about 700 games. It's a matter of what you buy more than how much IMO.

Quite a few. I "officially" started collecting about a year ago, and my collection grew from 200+ to 700+.

How many have I actually bought? Way more than that.

I'm a picky buyer for myself. With the exception of Dreamcast, I only buy games that I know will be fun, The games I have are ones that I like, and that I will pick up and play again sometime.

But usually, I buy everything in large lots. I pick out what I want and trade/sell the rest.

In my first year I might have gotten 75 if I was lucky. I don't exactly remember, though. I didn't "really" get into collecting until I joined DP, which was close to 1 year after I started.

i wouldnt count dupes myself but...

its easy when you start out, you need everything :)

once you've been at for awhile you just see games you already have. i still hunt as much as before and find as much but now i have like 75% of whats out there. i kinda miss the early days when i could find a milk crate full of carts i need.

This is the end of my first year too. I've probably picked up 150 or 200 games over the year, but that's including gifts and donations to the collection.

It's like maxlords said. I've probably passed over enough stuff to triple my collection just in this first year. I'm trying to get back to buying what I want to play, and getting rid of what I don't. Collecting and hunting for games is great, don't get me wrong. But I literally have stacks of games I've never even touched after I put them on the shelf.

i started collecting around 97 or so, at that time, NES games were still prevalent and very very cheap. i got a couple hundred games that first year.
