So I know we've debated about casual gamers here several times, and about how they are going to ruin the industry because they keep buying full priced and crap games, play them for a week, beat them, and then sell them back and do it all over again. Along with their mindless tastes. Well, I've just seen what is probaly the worst insult to a hardcore gamer. :hmm:

I play both casual and hardcore games, and enjoy most of them. One of my biggest areas for casual games is football, which I love with a passion. This is my favorite time of the year because three very good football games come out within a month's time of each other, and it's enough fun to last me the whole year, even after the real season has come and gone.

I'm very tight on money right now, but I got a friend to repay a loan and picked up NCAA Football 2005 yesterday for the XBox.

Right on the COVER they have a large sticker saying that you can trade in that game for Madden 2005 when it comes out for $30 of trade in credit. :eek 2:

Amazing! Madden is due to come out August 10th, that's only a few weeks now. The two games are compatiable with each other -- one of my favorite things to do is import rookies from NCAA into Madden. They are not that similar (really as different as college and pro football) and it's been my experience that many die hard football fans like me will buy all THREE of the major football games.

And here is EA saying that you can buy a game full price, play it for three weeks (hardly enough time to get used to it, much less unlock or see everything), and then trade it in to get a cheap copy of Madden.

If EA REALLY cared about selling their games, they would offer a mail in rebate for $10 or something if you bought both games within a certain time period. All they are doing with this rebate is hurting their own sales. I can't see this being very successfull at all.

It seems just because a small number of people are always buying and selling games, they cater to that group.....as opposed to guys like me, who will play the game heavily for a full year.

Oh well. At least on the bright side Sega's ESPN 2K5 got bumped up and is coming out next week (the 21st) for only $20. :D

Among gamers, game collectors are a minority. I've gotten used to most game stores not catering to my tastes. Just about every company is out there to make as much money as possible. Game companies are no exception.
