Until I have a TurboDuo, Magic Engine will have to do for playing my Dracula X CD. But two things:

1. I can't get the controls to function.

B. I'm not getting any music. I'm getting sound FX just fine, but the music fails to function.

Can anyone offer troubleshooting advice?

You have to configure the controls before they'll work. They don't default to certain keys like with most other emulation.

For Dracula X it depends. It's best not to play it on a DVD drive. Make sure your using a dowloaded system card 3.0 when you load it up. Have the most recent ASPI if you don't already. If your playing a CDR there's a good chance it isn't burned right as most people don't know how to burn them right.

Do you have the audio line from the Cd drive hooked to your soundcard? Magic Engine uses this for the CD audio. With all of the digital music formats, and digital pass-through for CDs now, it's likely you wouldn't have noticed before if it wasn't.

Just recheck your controls in the menu, then it should work fine. As for the audio it does not support digital audio, you must connect an analog sound cable from your drive to your sound card to get any sound. I've heard somehow using the system card 3.0 rom will work but never tried it. I finally received my tg16-duo controller adapter and dracula X ROCKS on a controller.

Hook up a controller to your PC if possible cause I think the keyboard is pretty sucky for the game.

Domo arigato, guys! Three things:

1. You'd be surprised how adapted I am to keyboards. I can play fighting games well on them!

B. Analog cable? Crap, sounds like a pain... and no, the music doesn't work with the System 3.0 card rom. The sound effects are good, though.

3. If eBay is generous within this weekend, I'll have me a TurboDuo... :D

Ah, D-Lite, my good man! Don't go too far... if I lose this eBay auction, I'll be coming to you! Count on it. :)

P.S.: You'd be surprised how often that I DON'T check the buying and selling forums. Heh... :embarrassed:

I may very well have a Duo-R up for sale. Word of advice however, don't use Cheap CD-Rs for games.

It's not the CDRs. It's how poorly made the system is and how likely the system will break down on you in a few years. Sometimes even a few months.

I beg to differ. Low quality CDRs or high speed burns definitely limit the lifetime of your CD unit. The CD drive in Turbo/PCE Duo systems is first generation technology and lacks any real form of error correction. Put in even a scratched disk and you'll hear all sorts of grinding going on as the motor struggles to position the laser properly. A high quality burn using decent media and at 2X speed definitely produces more reliable disks than even 4X. I know because I've done the experiment. Both with different burns and also with MANY systems from Turbo Duo to PCE Duo to Duo-RX to SuperCD attachment, etc.
