Can't say I've seen that specific model but it indeed looks like a device for creating and running roms for the famicom. I have one myself (a different one), it runs roms from the internet... I mean backups of my own games... Anyway, you said it came with an NTSC SNES, did it come with any NTSC games? If so try it with those, also try it with any SNES roms you have, mine works with the standard .smc files.

Good luck and awesome find, they are relatively hard to find since the auctions are often removed from ebay.

A flatmate at uni had one running off his SFC... I'm pretty sure it will only work on NTSC consoles.

NTSC is just another standard of Television like PAL is in Europe, Australia, and parts of Asia. North America & Japan are both NTSC

It's completely worthless so you'd better send it to me LOL

Seriosuly, though--did it come with a power supply? Are you going to sell/trade it if you can't get it to work ( :D )?

That is a great deal. Most Snes copiers go for at least $60.

Edit: You can play games that are larger than 1.44 MB, but you need to break them up using a program like Snestool.

What version of Super Wild Card is it? It should have a version number on the menu. It's not a SWC DX (they were black) or a DX2. The DX was 32mbit and the DX2 was either 32mbit or 64mbit. Remember that's megaBIT, so divide by 8 to get megaBYTE (32mbit machine will play 4 meg ROMs, etc). If that's an original Super Wild Card, I think it was either 16mbit or 24mbit.

If you want to play games larger than 1.44 meg, use snestool like someone else suggested. You can split larger ROMs over 2 or 3 diskettes. Load the first disk like normal, and it will prompt you for each following disk.

If you could, would you test a hacked rom for me to see if it'll run? I have a much better version of Final Fantasy IV / II that I was curious if it would run on one of those machines.

Oh man, that thing is so cool. I'd totally sell my SNES collection in an instant if I ever got one of those. Anyone know where I could get one from (besides Ebay)? I know some of those import dealers sell some crazy stuff like this. Any chance that these can be purchased new still?

E-Mail me the ROM, I've got a couple of SNES copiers hooked up.

THIS GUY (http://www.robwebb.clara.co.uk/shop/copiers/copiers.htm) sells new Super Wildcard DX2's. They're a little over $200 US and show no signs of dropping (I paid $200 for my SWC/DX almost ten years ago). I have ordered many things from that site and can vouch that they are on the level. Tell them Flack sent'cha. Also note that the DX2 can be hooked up to a PC and you can load/dump ROMs that way too. The DX2 was one of the last of the SNES copiers and is really the Caddy of the series. 64Mbit ensures you'll be able to play pretty much anything. It also supports DSP games (with a DSP game (any one) in the cart slot).

As far as eBay goes, good luck. I've seen very, very few of these pop up, and when they do they are shut down within hours. You can always wait for someone to post in the Buying and Selling forum, but ... you'll have to be quick.

If you'd like to take a little while to figure it out, UCON64 (http://ucon64.sourceforge.net) may be a better program than SNESTool for this kind of thing. Make sure you get the Java frontend (SeeUCON64) with it.

Not directly related to the thread, but no, FF4 only had a North American release. I'm not sure FF6 was ever released in Europe either.

How come you have a Las Vegas poster on your wall if you live in England? ;)

And are you in dorm housing, by any chance? :)

Nice find, BTW. It's one of the 'open secrets' that many companies had game copiers and backups like yours to work on games and review them for magazines and strategy guides.

If you buy an NTSC SNES power supply you'll still need a step-down convertor to use it in the UK since the US uses 110V while we're on 220V.
For my US SNES, I use a variable powerpack and an adaptor 'bit' that I got at Maplins for about 80p. The best plan is to take the SNES in with you to make sure you get the right adaptor.

And I'm going from memory here, but the back of the SNES should have the PSU socket, an RF connector and the 'multi-out' socket which AV or SCART cables plug into. I think that's it.

I got something similar to what you've got... it's called a MGH (Multi Game Hunter)

Apparently it will play SNES and Megadrive games off disk!

But it came with no PSU

But I'm afraid I beat you on the price mate.... 20p because it was half past 2 (near packing away time) at the local flea market

ROFLMAO LOL

Psst, off topic threadjack: I am currently buying Famicom/NES game saving/rom hacking hardware and software (usually FDS disks).

Pm me if you can help me out. :-)
