View Full Version : Should I sell my AES? I like a few opinions.

I bought my AES with debug, S-vid, stereo mod, nice box, mint styro, and nice controller for $375 about 4 years ago from a good guy at NG.com. However, while it was always a dream to own the infamous Neo-Geo, its the cost of the games that puts me off from buying any. In 4 years, i've only gotten 1 AES game (Magician Lord, btw is pretty cool). Now i could be buying all the older crappy 20-50 dollar games, but IMO they kinda suck. Oh, and how many different fighters can you put on one system O_O ?? Cripes!!
I'd like to buy some Metal Slug AES, but not at $300 and up @_@ . There are WAY too many other things i'd rather spend that much money on!

So... I bought a Candy Cab. Why? Because the games are much much cheaper. Now i find myself searching for mvs carts all the time. Lets see, Metal Slug 1 on AES= around $1000. Metal Slug (loose)on MVS= around $100. See my point? I want all the metal slugs for my candy cab, i think they are awesome games. And i feel i'm still being loyal to the almighty Neo cause they aren't ports. I'll probably NEVER play my AES, but I play MS2 on the Candy almost every day! But, how many people can say they have a AES? As a collector I like being able to claim that. Should i sell it? Will i regret it in the future? I hardly ever sell ANY of my collected stuff for fear of regretting it layer.

I can always say " Hey, if your not playing Neo on a real arcade machine, your not really playing a Neo". ;) Opinions please.

Thanks
~bill

Well, if you don't wanna spend so much money on carts your AES collection probably won't grow very much, especially with a Candy Cab. You'll definitely get some coin for the AES if you choose to sell it. Hell if I had the money I'd say YES SELL TO ME NOW

Personally I wouldn't care about keeping the AES around if I had an MVS setup. But I'm not an Ubercollector.

You could always track down a phantom-1 convertor so you could play mvs games. Though those cost about 300 bucks alone and are out of print themselfs now. I'd be willing to buy it maybe if you did decide on selling it.

Opps just read that you had an arcade cab. Kind of makes my thread pointless. :embarrassed:

well, let us know if you decide to sell, and how much you want for it....

i might be interested, as i have be mulling over the idea of buying an AES for a while now...just for the fact to say that I own one, since most of the neo games ill be buying will be for my 4 slot cab...for the obvious price reasons

Hmm...didn't notice you have a cab either. Then yeah I'd say sell it. It's pretty much just gonna sit around there and unless you're looking to collect for it, which you don't seem to be doing, might as well sell it right? I totally agree with you on the price point, why buy a single game for so much money which may be good but NO WHERE NEAR worth it....there's just so much more stuff you can use all that cash for!

AES Samurai Shodown II is worth the same (or less) as Magician Lord and it rooooocks!

I have a Phantom-1, and I modded my AES to the nines, and have a pure Neo Arcade stick, (Sanwa stick, 4 coloured happs buttons), with extension cable of course.

Since you have a cab... ditch the AES. LOL I don't collect cabs (space issues). I collect consoles. My AES is the 'exotic' of my console collection. A Supergun or consolized MVS is a contraption ( a cool contraption, but still a contraption), and I don't collect contraptions.

My Phantom works great in my AES. I just bought MS1, MSX, SSIII, and Blazing Star on MVS. Best of both worlds. With the shock boxes I have on the way, it weill not only play well, but store well also.

REMEMBER! Only a modded AES can play virtually EVERYTHING.

MVS games? Yep! (couple exceptions)

AES Games? Yep!

AES modes AND MVS play modes? Yep! (modded AES)

But you have a cab, so what the hell are you posting for!? LOL
