View Full Version : What are you playing... on your PC? (daily check)
I thought it's time we made new thread about what we are playing. Before, we focused on the console side; now let's focus on the computer side. Games from all (non-console) machines welcome, but no emulation. :P
Right now I'm playing Flux, Twin Drop, and LTris. What about you?
No emulation! There goes my answers. Playing a lot of warcraft III TFT as usuall.

Indeed. I'm a heavy computer game user -- I play as many computer games as console games -- but take away emulation and my answers drop in half. ;)
Right now? Madden 2004, JAST Collection, War in the Pacific, and Crusader Kings for me. :)

I'm kinda seeing if I like PC games, it's been a while since I really *played* a PC game. Currently its Freedom Force with a few rounds of the UT 2004 and Painkiller demos.

Wolf: ET. Its what i live for :-P
And occasionally some Claw, but i keep wondering how much more fun it would be if the levels werent designed to trick you into a hole, or kill your all the time. Chance of dying from an enemy: 1/6. Chance of falling in a pit, pool of acid, onto spikes or off cliff- 5/1 :o
Worth it to hear a cat pirate shout "Eat Lead!" or "Land Lover!"

I'm still mostly playing Unreal Tournament 2004 and Civilization III Gold and if you ask this question again same time next year I bet my answer will probably still be the same. These games are like crack.

I rarely play any games on my PC mainly because it just doesn't have the power. Mostly I'll play a few trivia games like You Don't Know Jack of Jeopardy but my serious gaming is done on the consoles...

Same here! It's been my favorite PC game since the day it was released.
I'm working my way through Far Cry right now as well. Awesome game!

HALO. It's a good game, and it's fun, and I'm sure the PC version is better than its Xbox counterpart (hi-res r0><0r), but I'm having a hard time seeing what all the fuss was about. Haven't any of these people ever played Unreal, Deus Ex, System Shock 2, Tron 2.0...etc., etc., etc.?
After that I'm going for KOTOR.
I hope Ed Oscuro gets back soon so that we can continue our four-player System Shock 2 game.

Well, I've been Juggling a lot of games lately...
Midnight Club 2
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
American McGee's Alice
Splinter Cell
and then there's the games I haven't touched yet..
Medal Of Honor: Allied Assault
Street Legal
That's about it!
Now I think I'm going to play Alice.

Tiger Woods 2004 is a great, great golf game, just about the best ever made. Now, that doesn't really mean much, considering every golf game has ripped off Leaderboard Golf for 20+ years, but I really dig Tiger 2K4. It's only $20, so it's a real steal.
After that, it's UT2004, another killer game. You just have to remember to download all the fan-created levels and mods (you have to play as Bender). Where the hell is Quake 4 supposed to be?
I also have a copy of Madden 2004, which I played only once. Why is that? Maybe I'd rather play MAME.

Thief III
Can you give us a brief snippet on how this game runs? I've considered picking it up, but from what I hear it uses the same engine as Invisible War, and that was choppy on everybody's PC (no matter how good your graphics card was). If it won't run, I don't want to shell out the cash until it's $25 or less.

Well, my pc has become a mid to low range system since I upgraded it. Probably very low end. It's an athlon xp 1700+ with a geforce 4 4200 and around 512 megs of DDR ram. The game runs pretty damn NICE on my PC. It's got some beautiful graphics (even at 640x480, the lowest res) and it's not too choppy at all. I'm not sure if the deus ex IW engine was reused in this game. It is one hell of an excellent game. Believe it or not, it is HILARIOUS too, like using the oil flasks to make people slip down stairs or off cliffs, or throwing unconscious bodies into huge moving gears and hearing them SCREAM. I also laughed my ass off when a guards was yawning with his arms outstrtetched and I shot an arrow into his face and his yawn turned into a AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH with his hands covering his face. Oh man! Good times.

Hmm...I have an Athlon XP 1600+ w/ GeForce 3Ti200 and 756 Mb RAM. I'm pretty sure T3 uses the IW engine, and IW was a little choppy (although playable) at 640x480.
It's just a shame that they have to make a game that you really need a next-gen computer to run. Anything below 800x600 is like blasphemy, and our systems are a heck of a lot better than the run-of-the-mill Dell that most people have. Why can't PC game-makers create things that people can *run?* No wonder PC games aren't as hot as consoles.

Well, from what I've read about Doom III, the machine that runs it on Ultra Quality mode doesn't exist yet! What the hell is that?!
Deus Ex 2 looks great, but it's not perfect at either 1024x768 or 1204x960. Of course it doesn't help that the interface sucks. Way to ruin it, Mr. Spector. I have a P4 3.4ghz, 2 gigs of ram, and a 256meg 9800XT. I didn't pay $2400 for a machine that won't run a 6 month old game like that. *snobbery*
But I'm playing Far Cry right now. That runs beautifully on all full settings and 1024x768. And it looks stunning. There are some areas on level 2 that look photorealistic. If I one step up the res, it's still very playable. but stutters a little.

The way i see it: The older the PC, the cheaper the games ;)
