posting this for a friend-

OK, this is a long shot, but I am working on a new book entitled "Game Console Hacking" (http://www.syngress.com/catalog/sg_main.cfm?pid=3040) that is a follow-up to the Hardware Hacking: Have Fun While Voiding Your Warranty (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1932266836) book that our beloved Albert Yarusso was a contributor to. The book discusses various hacks and mods you can do to your videogame consoles (totally legal and fun

My NES chapter is due today and am in desperate need of an original (e.g., you own it) picture of a Top Loader with one or two dog bone controllers and a picture of the original Famicom console. The pictures will need to be 800 x 600, not blurry, and suitable for publication (hopefully against a white background).

Whoever can provide both pictures to me (JPG, GIF, whatever) or posts them to this topic will get a free copy of the book when it comes out (due August 2004).

So, I think that's it. If you have any questions, please feel free to let me know.

Thanks

I don't have a top loader NES, but I have done a few cosmetic mods to my consoles. I've put a blue power led in my front loading NES, my DC, and Gamecube. I'm not sure if your buddy would want pics of any of those, but if so just let me know. :)

Thanks to everyone who responded to me publicly and privately (and thanks to Christian Scott for posting the initial message - I couldn't find my password!)

I received some great pictures last night, so my ass is saved. One lucky person will receive the copy of the book when it comes out.

Thanks again for all the help,

:)

Joe's book will kick ass! I got a sneak peek at his work at E3 in May. Normally I wouldn't care about a book like this, but it's so well organized and contains so many different kinds of mods that I can't see how anyone could pass it up!

Glad you got the pics, Joe. If there's anything else we can help out with please don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks Joe. The book probably won't be off the press by CGE, but hopefully I'll have some more sneak peeks! Shoulds be a fun book for just about everyone. 8-)

I actually can't say yet, but there will be a nice mix of modern, classic, and portable systems. :)

I'll post some more info as it becomes available,
