View Full Version : Playstation Ten Million Sweepstakes - anyone have this?

So Sony made 100 (very dark) blue Playstations, and 1000 blue controllers, to celebrate the 10 millionth PSX sold. This was in early '97, I believe. The consoles were only available to contest drawing winners (the 10 Million Sweepstakes). Does anyone here own one of these? Further, does anyone even own a *picture* of one of these? The one photo I've found is very, very small.

(Value-wise, this would be a huge score. The D-Direct Dreamcast goes for ~1500, and this is a US system of similar rarity)

Ive not seen any systems ever floating around. Is it the same darkblue that US Debug units are?

The picture in the first link was the one I'd seen....thanks for the second, those pictures are much bigger.

Papastu, it looks quite a bit darker than the dev system.

(new notes: Track down NBA 2Ball and Midnight Blue PSX) :-)

That said, there are now quite a few system variations for the PSX in the US. There's colored dev system, original grey, PSone, Net Yaroze, 10 million model, Dual Shock model.

With both the NetYaroze and the 10,000,000 Unit one, they are both incrediby low numbered. Im not looking forward to ever finding one of these.... Thanks Kevin.... ::grumble grumble::

And I thought I started shit with this system.

/me goes to cry in a corner... too much PS stuff... Damn Sony and WD, maybe I can make them pay shrink bills if I ever go crazy.

Meet my mortal fucking enemy.

I love my life. In researching the Midnight Blue system, I finally, FINALLY stumble on to a US Yaroze on Ebay....with a butt bang of an opening bid (with reserve?!) and missing box. Before I go to work, I had to post the link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=62054&item=8120227031&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

Why you ask? Read the auction description and find out why this dipshit spent $800 to do the same thing a $12 item could do.

God hates me.

$13,010 in Credit Card debt. The race to $0 begins...

Shit, if you're going to have an opening bid $200 higher than what a Yaroze normally sells for, you could at least take a picture, right?

Agreed.... That and the fact that 500 opening isnt probably gonna catch the reserve either. Still added to watch list, lets see where this thing goes. Id like a box, but does one really need a box...

Cool Blue PS1.

But if you think that's rare, you should probably see the only GOLD colored PS1 unit that's on display in the lobby of SCEA. That thing must be rare because it's the only gold colored system I've ever seen.

If I'm ever down at Sony HQ again, I'll try to remember to take pictures of it.

I know that the Foster City location (place is the home of the Tech support for a number of Sony Products) just north of me has a Gold Unit in it. It was the commoration of 50 million units or something like that but I dont remember if it was a PS or a PS2.
