Upon going to my friendly neighbor Gamestop in which a close friend works, I asked him to check to see what is coming out that I need to keep my eye out for. Upon my request, he noticed that something was coming out in October(a early release date in his compter)......for ATARI ANTHOLOGY for the PS2........not to be mistakened for Activision Anthology already out. Can anyone else confirm this????

Yes, we have been contacted here at Good Deal Games about this title and can confirm this title. The pre-release SKU is 995083. We are working on getting a title listing. Sadly, this will not be released on the X-Box or GameCube.

Er, I'm not. Not yet anyway. :D
I know you probably don't have the details, and you probably can't share 'em even if you did, Mike. But I wonder if it's gonna be similar in set-up to the Activision Anthology? I wonder if it's an Activision or Atari release? I wonder if it's gonna be 2600 games, or a selection of different emulated consoles? Hell, I wonder if it'll be Atari arcade games instead? But mostly, I wonder, wonder who, I wonder who....who wrote the Book of Love?

Very cool news! I do hope it's set up like Activision's!

Yayyyy! (clap) (clap) (clap) (clap) (clap) :) :) :) :)
Why do I get so excited about these things? I guess it's just more convenient than playing the games on a real Atari.

I'm lukewarm to the idea, but that might just be because I already have Arcade's Greatest Hits: Atari Collection for the SNES, later republished for the Playstation and PC as Atari Anniversary (Redux), which I also have. I do like it, mind you, but there would have to be more than the same titles again and again. How about including Star Raiders and its sequel, Solaris? Or how about Adventure? Those games have never been re-released since their original release. There are other titles too that should be included in such a collection.
Also: woud that be an Atari release (ie. which could cover anything from the pre-Atari Games arcade releases to all the console and computer releases), or a Midway release (the former Atari Games)? My money is on Atari rather than Midway, if only because some of the old Atari Games (notably Gauntlet) has already been released in general compilation form from Midway.
Or why not combine different platforms? I don't see why there'd be a problem to include both Atari 2600 and arcade games (or whatever combo)... after all, if Digital Eclipse can fit in both a SMS and a Genesis emulator in Phantasy Star Collection for the GBA, why would it be unfeasable on the PS2?

I, for one, would love to play head-to-head Combat on the PS2.

I'd llove an Atari collection that had Adventure in it (crosses my fingers).
It would also be nice if they were somehow able to bundle in Atari 5200 games as well.

Williams bought Midway and Atari Games but use the Midway name now
which is why they have Gauntlent and all the other AG classics. I hope
this is deluxe version of the Anninversary edition. I'm more interested in
seeing arcade emulation than a bunch of 2600 games that are trying to
copy those same arcade games. I admit Adventure and others are unique
home experiences but there are ton of great arcade games that have not
been brought home other than MAME. As for it being PS2 exlcusive,
since the Xbox can emulate pretty much all the old stuff perfectly you
guys have saved yourself about $25 :)
