did you know that we're way ahead of the game this time around? thats right the date is set and you have been informed, no excuses man!

what prompted this farsighted date, the return of NEGC co-founder joe grand to the 617 area code. we plan to chain him to a table and make him preform console mods til his fingers bleed! well who knows, but its never too late to get your book, cart or stelladaptor autographed.

we've also set up a kirk-proof (fingers crossed) gaming contest that will be 100% monkey ball free! bring your camera for this one as i plan to have everyone looking like idiots!! see them balence on the thrustmaster board, swing genesis bat, wear the NES laser scope and more!!!

that along with a summers worth of bloated trade piles, remember october is harvest time! theres no telling who or what will show up at our meets but nobody ever leaves unhappy or empty handed. flip some calender pages and be on the ball, it'll be here before you know it!

I'll be there this time :)

I'll be there MORE SOBER this time. From what I remember of last time, I don't remember much, lol.
Do we have a rough time estimate yet?

Oh - it's on a wednesday this time?

christianscott27
08-31-2004, 07:42 PM
no, no its my calender averse brain! its on a sunday as ever, oct 3rd. i predict (pending spousal approval) that the trademeet will run from 2ish to 9ish.

other things i predict-

- you'll be looking at someone's tradebox and suddenly remember you looked at the same stuff just four months ago

- cootie will be the butt of cruel but deserved jokes

- "is that my beer?"

- despite the cooler fall temps there will be at least one sweaty dude

- todd will sport of posse of love mamas who will serve as tradebait dates, allowing him to clean everyone out

- due to tougher standards kirk's hope for another contest sweep will be dashed, in other words no monkey ball!

- keir's typical in-your-face strong arm 'tude will prove to be his undoing and rob lays on the well hung nazi smackdown

- desperate for a novelty photo yours truely will be found trying to shove a power glove on cooties paw

- a newly shorn clubninja will go virtualy unnoticed as he works the boxes for five finger discounts

- that one dude who lives nearby and always says he's coming...will not show

- after consuming todd's remaining stash of year old schlitz chad will offer all of his tradebait for ownership of cootie

- at least one nosey guest will pull too hard on the "SMS wall of death" resulting spilled beer, hurt feelings and the rediscovery of "lucky dime caper"

This time I will come, with some tradebait!

Dude, I'd have to be pretty damn desperate to touch Todd's beer. I'm bigger than he is, but drinking all of another man's stash may be worse than stealing his woman.

John Hardie's coming? 8*) *zing!*

we had the pleasure of a hardy visit once, one snowy day so long ago...he brought so much stuff!

anyways, the day draws closer, 2 weeks to go. if you admit to living in new england you better be here, and if at all possible bring beer.

remember the gaming theme this time is "lets get physical" or something like that, it means we're playing games that make you get off your butt and move. i've got a few ideas already and everyone is welcome to bring along their favorites. think DDR and sports, anything from any era you might have, old or new.

chadtower
09-20-2004, 10:48 AM
Uh, are we going to play them in the street or something? There's usually just enough room for an uncomfortable level of sausagefest.

nah just a case of moving a few things in the gameroom, we tried it out during my sons b-day and had people using the full sized snowboard controller without space issues. alas it means i wont be able to make another $1.25 off the arkanoid cocktail.

Ah yes... it should be noted, Ryan put nearly all of that money in at the last meet. Making money off a 5 year old... shady, very shady. LOL

i do make some money when that one dr.mario loving girl shows up, only cause i'm too lazy to set the PC-10 dips to freeplay. i had to pull the coin box outta the cocktail as it had this wierd anti-theft mech where the machine would cut out if the coin box was being moved. that one quarter keeps going thru it over and over...in the next house i'm gonna have my own arcade with custom tokens ;)

Heh, I just keep a big bowl of quarters by my cabs.

Got a question. I'm not really that much of a collector when it comes to games, and my knowledge and like of pre-Genesis stuff (except Intellivision) is minimal. Would it be an overly bad idea to go? Since I still think it would be interesting/fun.

Also, I see a lot of people saying "bring beer". LOL Are you against having minors there?

I bring my son and he's 5, so no, there are no aversions to minors. Just be sure you don't mind if Cootie tries to make sweet love to you down by the fire.

If you have nothing to trade, you suck at games, and heard about something called pacman once when you were a kid..... STILL COME.

bluberry
09-27-2004, 02:09 PM
Oh, I have some stuff to trade. Just not that much of it. Mostly, a huge sack of NES carts that I seriously need to go through, along with a small handful of SNES stuff and some more recent games I'm looking to get off my hands.

Keir
09-27-2004, 02:22 PM
Hope to see you there bluberry!

Unless Beth goes into labor in the next 6 days, I will be there. I will also be bringing my friend Joe so prepare the initiation ceremonies!

BTW, anyone interested in an incomplete, untested 1972 Odyssey console w/ cards #1-6, #9 and #10?

Keir
09-27-2004, 04:35 PM
Cool, you guys can fight over it!

I'm not worried about getting anything spectacular for it, and I will also be taking cash this time as I really need to get rid of more stuff that's just taking up space.

chadtower
09-27-2004, 07:57 PM
Anyone interested in gameboxes and manuals? I'm going to clear out all of the boxes/manuals for systems I don't care about completism... i.e. SNES, NES, INTV, Genesis...

bluberry
09-27-2004, 08:35 PM
I'd be really interested in certain INT manuals, SNES manuals, Genesis manuals, and Genesis cases. I stopped doing cardboard boxes since they fall apart too easy.

Huh, maybe I should get a list together of all the stuff I'd have for trade. LOL

chad,

i'll go for any boxes you want to unload, you wont have to lug a one of em back to the car!

it would not be bad idea at all to come, much like these forums we love the classic systems and the new ones too. theres a lot of 16 bit stuff for trade here as most of us are going for these systems in a big way. i know several of us are working on complete genesis collections as well as saturn and other more recent consoles.

the beer thing is just our way of saying "relax and feel at home, this isnt a convention" most of our guests dont drink at all so you definatly wont feel like the odd man out.

lastly, you live right here in boston, how can you not come?

see you there, PM me if you need directions or anything.

Eek, Odyessy system, Keir? I think we have a third-party looking to fight right here... maybe ;)

Also, I'm gauging interest on an INTV II system with a crap-ton of games and a 5200 with like 10 games that I want to sell off. Or maybe some other stuff. I made a big purchase and I need cushion money :P

I got a call today from a local guy with a bunch of vending machines he wants to sell me cheaply... anyone have any interest? I'm going to look tomorrow.

Sylentwulf... can you bring some Saturn batteries? I have a couple Saturns here I'm modding and they both seem to have dead batteries.

christianscott27
09-30-2004, 11:13 PM
sweet donkey kongas! i have maybes on that from both scott and kirk, come on guys go get the drums! if anybody has a set bring em over, i've got the cube ready to go.

I'm going to take a look tonight. His desc was that he has a bunch of tabletop size food vending machines and maybe a couple of big ones, my kids were screaming at the time so I didn't get the exact details. He's only about 1 mile from my house so taking a look is trivial.

BTW, I will be modding a second Saturn tonight (to play CDRs) since I bought two modchips in case I destroyed the first one. Anyone interested in a modded Saturn?

I'd be willing to buy one if we needed another but I don't even have a GC yet so if there are already going to be 4 sets there, I'd rather hold off on buying it. Know what I mean?

I won't be able to make this meet, but I'd be curious what the big cabs are. I don't have much interest in cocktail models, myself. When you see what's available, please let us know.

ALSO, while I can't make the meet this weekend, I recently found out my S.O. is not averse to hitting Boston some weekend. Any idea when the next NECG will be? I've wanted to swing by one for some time, but never really made the effort to get up there before.

woo, great times, even if i did arrive a bit late. several hours late, that is. Christian was a generous host and took me to the neighborhood pub, though, where we had a nice chat about roommates, Colecovision, Playstation games where you chop vegetables, bus driving simulations, whiskey, and wimmen. Good times, good times. Proof positive that the DP gaming community isn't a bunch of random collectors, but an extended family of super cool people.
