Here's a strange thing that occured yesterday..
(I have two Xboxs set up for link games/the new one is on top of the other).
I put Dead Mans Hand in the bottom Xbox and the demo was playing..(The Xbox that I always use)
I just let Dead Mans Hand demo play and came back in the room to plug in a controller to play.
By mistake I plugged a controller into the Top Xbox...(that was OFF but is linked to the bottom Xbox).I never turned on the top Xbox and there is no copy of Dead Mans Hand in that Xbox.
I sit down and press the A Button on the controller and the demo stops working and goes right to the select game screen without loading.
(I didn't notice if System link Option was highlighted though)
Note:The top Xbox was off..
I tried pressing the A button and anything to start but nothing happened ...it just sat at the game select screen.
I figured either the game had froze or the controller wasn't in right, then as I got up to see what was wrong realized I had the controller plugged into the wrong Xbox ....I Did a double take and thought..what the heck just happened..(the top xbox is off/how did that happen..?
I figure somehow due to the xboxes being linked a connection was made.
But,I tried to do it again and it won't do it again...(Crazy)
I even tried it a few minutes ago and it didn't do it again..
What happened..?

LOL ...No lie some weird stuff goes on here..
Like when My Neo Geo Candy Cab was playing through Alpha Missions II by itself.. @_@
Though I really think it was a bug in the UNI BIOS chip...brought on by a random button press from my three yr old Son.
Never explained though.. :eek 2: ..............

You should call a Scientist that I know of named Egon Spengler. He's really into stuff like this and he may be able to help you. lol
Seriously though, that's some weird stuff. Maybe it's because the XBox is never really "off" but in a 'sleep mode' or something?

"Usually you don't see this kind of behavior in a major appliance."
(Yes, I know that line is from Peter Venkman. And yes, the XBox is big enough to be considered an appliance.)

Are you sure the demo wasn't ending just as you pressed the button?

I think Xbox remains "on" as long as the power is plugged in. Case in point: I had my controller acting strange (running to the left when the stick is centered, etc), so I figured it needed to be reinitialized. I turned the Xbox off and on again, and the problem remained. I then unplugged the controller and replugged it, and the problem went away.
My guess? Your "off" Xbox is indeed in sleep mode and is able to feed thru controller inputs to some degree.

No..
But the game will only go to the game select screen upon pressing the A button on the controller.
The screen was waiting for me to choose what to play with single player highlighted.
I did take the controller and plug it into the bottom Xbox and start a single player game from this screen..
Once this screen is chosen the game won't go back into demo mode..It'll just wait until you decide what you want to do.
NOTE:.
A friend told me about being able to play the Link only optional Games with only one copy of the game..You need two Xboxes and they have to be link cable connected.
If I have BOTH Xboxes ON the link game option becomes available with only one copy of the game in one Xbox..
Then I can play the link option game and turn OFF the second Xbox..
He said he got that the link optional games to become available with just one Xbox on(linked) but he may have just been mistaken..or didn't mention the turn on then off thing.
He told me to play Posse...Whereas this is a link optional game but can be played on one TV with another person...(Co-Op)
I tried this by myself and it worked, but I didn't have the second player to do it(will tomorrow though)
As he wrote tonight after I asked about the Posse option..............
Play any of those levels, except the one that's in the rocks. For some reason, the enemies get "stuck" out of range & view, so that you have to wait for the timer to expire. We like the Hacienda (toughest), but they are all fun to play. The Church is probably the easiest level to defend, by yourself.
............
He had told me about this link trick before I bought the game so I didn't really pay attention to it..
Then when I finally got the game I tried it and to my surprise it worked..
What I'm getting a is maybe some sort of connection is being made between the Xboxes due to the link Cable..
I'm going to try and turn on the top Xbox first tomorrow with no game in it then turn it off/right after turning on the bottom Xbox with the DMH game in it...Having the controller in the top Xbox.
Then I'm going to just have both Xboxes on and see if I can do anything from the top xbox with no game in it but a controller plugged in.

Hmmmm..Good point..
They are always plugged in..
The only systems I do leave plugged in due to the Clock resetting.. :o

Ugh, that clock resetting gets on my nerves, I mean what's the point of having a harddrive, if they can't save a simple thing like time itself? PS2 can do that with the memory card, but as much space Xbox has, they can't? Meh, oh well
As for your "Ghost Box".....it had to be due to the fact, that both Xboxes linked up from the back, any other player can skip menus/cut scenes, but only the first player can choose an option. Which is a majority of all multiplayer games.
But that's just my opinion. Yet with no power on...that's a big mystery in itself...

Maybe he should start playing some tunes by James Brown to see if the XBox will start jumping around by itself? :P

O_O Pretty weird! thats why i won't buy an xbox the devil (gates) made them! LOL.. Try wearing a bra on your head it worked in Weird Science! ;)
This is nothing to do with the xbox annomally you encountered  But here goes....
My GC and PS2 sit next to each other and i have them both connected to the same scart box (5 in one adaptor that lets you plug in a dvd, tv, Vcr, Satelite etc so you don't have to keep unplugging say the ps2 when you want to play the GC)
Anyway i switched on my PS2 (it works the same as always) BUT! my GC turned on! too! and the GC power lead was plugged Out! O_O the only lead plugged in to the GC was the lead that goes to the TV!..
At first i thought WTF?.. but i soon relised that the scart leads must be passing power as well as a source / signal, so the PS2 was powering the GC as well, But not enough to play any games!
Here's a pick, of my GC switched on but with no power leads? only the Tv to GC lead.. Probably of no interest but i thought i throw it in there! ;)

Xbox is not evil nor is Bill Gates,:frustrated: I have a Xbox and some of my friends saays it is evil because it makes weird sounds in sleep mode but it is not evil its just a electronic game system with a hard drive.
....P.S. Weird Science was a good movie and a great TV series, I wish the TV series was a DVD set I cant wait till that happens!!!!!!! :D

Hey tholly, (It doesn't play games) it just hums for a few seconds.. but the light just stays on, since it first happened (or at least until i first noticed it) i have kept which ever system i'm not using fully un-plugged, just incase it over loads anything in either console! ;)
I think it's down to the 5 way scart / adaptor.. (probably isn't regulated?)
and maybe the xbox isn't evil... But it's daddy! is LOL When anyone ever takes shots at bill gates, i'm always the first to saying something!.. my main thing is were would the world be without Microsoft? there's not a single other company.. that has done what MS has! i'm not a fan but i can appreciate what they have done! O_O In general ;)

I tried it again with both Xboxes on and with the top one off..
Nothing happened..
The link game select only becomes highlighted with both Xboxes on..
Though I notice the select game screen does come up between the demo/after gameplay screens are shown/then it goes back to gamplay screens ..It's just not how I made it appear...
I made the select game appear while a gameplay demo was playing whereas it was not finished yet..
Then the select game screen was just stuck there not going back into the gameplay demo ..
I'll never know how it occured ..It'll go down as another weird thing that happens around here.
