Excitebike was out iwth th first set. You're right with Ice Climber, Urban Champion, Mario Bros, Baseball and Donkey kong...

and I really think Nintendo is starting to kill us with Mario Bros. All 3 Super Mario Advance's have the classic... argh. :)

It wouldn't be so bad if it actually WERE the classic on those cartridges, but instead, it's a heavily altered remake. That's one advantage the e-card will have over the "versions" of Mario Bros. added to the Super Mario Advance games.
I'm looking forward to Donkey Kong myself. I'll probably buy that pack of cards as soon as I leave work tonight. Thank goodness for Meijer, the store that never closes and carries everything!

But the NES version of Mario Bros. is an altered version (read rush job or lazy man conversion) of the original game too. It's not *bad* but there's no excuse for it not being much better. Even the 5200 version had the proper Shellcreeper animations intact.

I got my Game Boy Bridge in a few weeks ago so I can now play every NES, GB, GBC, GBA game that ever was or will be without purchasing any more lame equipment.. and it doesn't make the GBA look like a damn credit card machine. Now if only I could bet a GBA that has a control scheme that works.

The other thing is that Nintendo seems to want to mirror its NES re-releases on the e-Reader with those available in Animal Crossing. Although it is in a way better in AC since the screen ratio is right (screenshots of DK on the GBA seems squiched in comparison).

And there's the fact that, since it's the NES version that's being emulated, DK is incomplete. You're still going to be missing the pie factory level and the animations in-between levels.

And I do think too that Nintendo is starting to overkill Mario Bros. x_x

I figured the eCards were perfect emulations of the orginals...who knew...

They're close enough. The screens are slightly squished, but it usually just affects the text. The two player options are missing from the games that had them, but it's a small loss when you consider the excellent price and portability of the cards.

A GB bridge is what is needed to change the voltage on a GBA development 256meg Flash card so that the GBA thinks the ROM's on it are .gbc roms not .gba which is what it is used for.. playing download .gba roms on a gba threw a multi-boot menu.. My GBA currently has 70 of my fav NES games emu'ed threw PocketNES, Yoshi's Island, Megaman Battle Network 2, and Golden Sun. But I can re-flash it with GB and GBC games.. like last week I had 120 Game Boy games like Zelda DX and Pokemon Red, Blue, Yellow, Silver etc... The Flash card and USB linker cost me $200 but you can get them for $100 now, and the GB Bridge cost me $20.00

Touche'. That was pretty disappointing... and the worst part was, a lot of Nintendo's early arcade translations were missing features. They were still better than previous home conversions, but these were Nintendo's own games... they should have done them complete justice.

Only a hundred dollars? That price makes it a lot more tempting. Where'd you get yours?
I'll pass on the Game Boy Bridge, though. I never liked the Game Boy Color and the original Game Boy is only slightly more exciting.

Lan Kwei has a 64meg Flash linker that could hold 60-100 nes games for $70.00 (which will only hold 4 meg GBA games.. :P) and a 256meg (Doom II and Golden Sun 2 are 128meg) for 135.00

They have raised their prices for Xmas so if you wait they will drop 20-30 bucks.. There are cheaper places, but I've not gotten a bad deal from lan Kwei and their shipping from Hong Kong is only $5.00 usually..

Doesn't cherryroms.com have or did have a linked ad to buying a Flash Linker?

got to be careful who you buy from when buying from Hong Kong.. And ALL linkers come from Hong Kong (same with mod chips) You may think your buying from a US storefront (like Gamegizmo) but they are just re-sellers for HK chains. You will get your shipment from HK and who you deal with is important.. I've seen to many posts with
"this store screwed me"
or
"I paid for a 256m but got a 128m now I can't get em to answer my e-mail and the Web site is gone!"

Agreed. The NES Donkey Kong was one of the bigger dissapointments back in the day, and it was made even worse in that it was SO CLOSE! Why oh why couldn't they make it that much more closer to the arcade game? Instead it misses a lot of the little details (gameplay, stage difficulty, music) and yeah the bigger ones (missing pie stage, no in-between stage animation, no "how high can you get"). And you just *know* the NES was capable of an almost arcade perfect donkey kong... they just didn't do it :(

does anyone know if any third party games will be released for th ee-reader?

Is the big N just releasing these games to honor the original line up? to test the waters?, or because the other games would be too tied up in legal crap?
