Hello, I picked up a bag of some genesis games at my local thrift store and in the bag there was a Sonic The Hedgehog with a label I have never seen before. It has different picture on front and does not say Not for Resale. It does say Sega Genesis. Does anybody know what this is? Email me if you would like picture at DemonGiggle@hotmail.com. O_O

It could be the Canadian release which has the brown/tan background and art that was on the Europe Megadrive box. If so, those are a bit harder to find.

It's the one that came with the Genesis.

Lots of them out there. There's also a Sonic 2 with a similar label.

In 4 years of collecting, i've managed to find 3 of the funky "euro label on US genesis cart" versions. 2 cart only, 1 complete. The manual is just like Megadrive games too, but it still says Genesis on it. I've only heard theories about this variation, never heard for sure where it came from. I'd be curious to find out.

Going by my hunting streak, Sonic and Sonic 2 not for resale versions are about twice as common as the regular versions.

I'm dead serious.

Yup it's Canadian.

Now for the "Not for Resale" Vs. the original copies. Sonic 2 is easy to find, but I have always had trouble finding an original Sonic 1 US

It has sonic standing on the front with a beigeish background with outlines of dr. robotnik and a coulpe little creatures. I found one on ebay. Item number 8117942107. So that would be the canadian version?

Well I certainly figured it was Canadian, I'm just curious what stores sold it and for how long? The normal version is still way easier to find up there. If it was store-exclusive for a short period of time, these might really be a good find.
