I went to the market to day and found a few ok things- $4 for Shark Attack and a pile of 2600 instructions (needed a few like Fun With Numbers- cart not there) and $1(!) for 5 complete Intellivision games with some orphan parts (boxes pretty worn.)

Then I found a 2600 Heavy 6'er in the box with support cardboard and talked the guy down to $23 for it, with a 2 in 1 original joystick set from Atari and a Honey Bee. I didn't have enough cash so he said he would hold it for me while I went to get some money. Literally, less than 2 minutes later, after I got a twenty from my wife, I run back and I see some other game geek walking away with my set. I go back to the vendor and ask him what happened- he said 'Sometimes people don't come back.' So I just said 'That is really lame,' and left, downtrodden. I needed a set like this for my collection- I have all manner of complete 2600s, just no heavy sixer. F^CK!

Last time I hit the flea market with less than $80 in my pocket.

From what I see on here, heavy sixers are a dime a dozen. SO I wouldnt worry about it too much.

True Heavy Sixer are not a dime a dozen. A true Heavey Sixer has has extra thick plastic on the bottem part of the body.

You should have gave the guy at least $5 to "hold it".

I feel sorry for you but you'll probably find something far better that will make up for this mishap.

Hindsight has 20/20 vision. I guess this hasn't happened to me yet. Leave it to folks in San Diego. Empty in head. That's why I don't want to stay here for good.

While it always does suck when ya miss out on a nice score, look at it this way: ya saved yourself the money. Perhaps you'll find something 5 times better to use the cash on? So just move on and keep huntin =D.

I've learned the hard way several times, never go hunting without cash. I always carry cash and always an assortment of small bills too.

I found that small bills are important as not everyone is out to screw you by overcharging. At a particular garage sale/business (this warehouse has had a garage sale in it every weekend for over 20 years) this lady sells items that are left behind at places she cleans. I find some old great condition 80's magazines that I want, so I take it up to the lady expecting to pay like a buck a piece (which is fine, I had a $20 bill in my wallet). She wanted about a $1.50 for the mags (about four) and the three Annual Chicken Recipe books I also snagged and she asked if I had something smaller. Quick jaunt to a mini mart for soda later and I got her the small bills.
