Shenmue II : Xbox or Dreamcast?

Hey -

So I'm on the third disc of Shenmue and I'm thinking about taking on Shenmue II right when I beat it. I have the UK version of Shenmue II for Dreamcast, but my roomate just got an Xbox.

So which system should I play Shenmue II on? I don't think that the 'moving all my items and notebook stuff' from shenmue to shemue II on DC will work since it's the UK version and I hear there is an incompatibility issue there. I hear that in the Xbox version, Ryo starts out with all of the items that he could have possibly collected in Shenmue, as well as the full notebook. I am also under the impression that The Dreamcast version of Shenmue II has subtitled english but only Japanese dialog, which doesnt bother me at all. But I do like the voice actors from Shenmue. Did they record the English dialog for the Xbox version of Shenmue II? If so, is it the same voice actors?

Anyway, can someone tell me other differences between the UK Dreamcast version of Shenmue II and the US Xbox version? I am really excited to play it, but I want to make the right choice here for the best experience.

I never played the DC version but in the xobx version I certainly started with Way more items than I collected in the first game, and the voices were all speaking English.

I think it was all the same voice actors, I didn't notice anything different. You start out with a number of Toy Capsules (mostly virtua fighter and some of the vehicles) but not many; nothing like Sonic or NiGHTS. Playing the UK version of Shenmue II you'll run into quite a bit of slow-down in busy areas which was kind of a turn off to me.

I think you can move everything between the US & UK versions but it's very difficult from what I understand (downloading, converting, emailing the save through DC browser I believe)

Xbox Shenmue II can probably be found for $10-20 now :)

I heard when I got Shenume II for XBox that it has several things the Dreamcast version did'nt have, such as the ability to take pictures and unlocking the original Saturn video for both games. They were originaly planned for that system as one game.

And the XBox version is nice and fast, no glitches.

The xbox version is better. It has slightly better graphics and more lights in the streets. I`d recommend it because you can take snapshots, and its just one dvd disc :)
