Well, today was the Pompton Lakes town-wide garage sale. DP was going to come, but he had to wait at home for something. So I went by myself.

And I killed P. Lakes. I went over half the town(at most) and SCORED SO MUCH. It's sick. If I didn't want to go see a movie with my dad today, well, if the first half was any indication of the second half...

Not to mention, the best thing you can EVER, EVER do at garage sales is ask if they have games. Not only did I miss stuff, not only did people bring stuff out for me, but one guy I'm going to call midweek to get his brother's stuff (and he's supposed to have a lot of stuff).

To the haul.... the first 6 things were literally 100 feet from my house in our townhous complex....

Chrono Trigger Boxed with One Map 50 cents
Super Metroid Complete 50 cents
Secret of Evermore Loose 50 cents
Illusion of Gaia Complete 50 cents
N64 Expansion Pack (Has jumper instead of pack and tool boxed) 50 cents
Zelda LttP Loose 50 cents
GameCube with 1 Controller, all hookups, works like a charm: $26
2 259 GC Mem Cards $1 each
Chronicles of Narnia Box Set (7 books) $1
Starfox 64 Loose $3
NES Control Deck Complete Boxed (Perfect Condition) $10
NES System Completewith Zapper And SMB/DH inside $10
Luigi's Mansion GC Complete $8
Crazy Taxi GC Complete $10
Tony Hawk 4 Complete $5
AH3 Thunderstrike Sega CD Sealed $2
Harvest Moon PSX Complete $2
Lunar EB PSX With Case, All CDs, and Hardcover Manual $4
12 Assorted Comics for $5
Bloom County Penguin Dreams (Needed a new one) $1
Wario Land 3 GBC Loose $2
Tetris DX GBC Loose $2
Megaman Exteme 2 GBC $5

And all the following for 50 cents, all for the NES, loose as otherwise noted:
Jeopardy
Baby Boomer
Tetris (NOA) Boxed
Bionic Commando Boxed
1943 Boxed
QBert Boxed
Castlevania III
Platoon
Excitebike
Contra
3 copies of Gold Zelda 1
Gauntlet (Unlicensed)
Super Sprint
RC Pro Am
Dr. Mario
Mission Impossible
Defender II
Frankenstein
Top Gun
Tecmo Super Bowl
A Nightmare on Elm STreet
Batman
Mad Max
Hook
Iron Tank
Zanac

The GC was flabbergasting. Yes, I said flabbergasting. The kid got a PS2, and wanted to ditch his GC. $20 for the system, $6 for the controller. @_@

With talking with people, out of the 50-60 sales I hit up, 4-5 said I missed their game stuff.. I overslept a bit (damn you Mario 64!!)... ah well. One guy said he had 60 2600 games with system he sold. Yeargh.

I am a touch upset I missed the rest of the day and the rest of the town, but I'd rather spend time with my dad when I can.

Well, I didn't have great hopes for today .. I signed myself up for the afternoon to voluntarily cover a freind's shift in a Fairtrade Cafe near where I live. Finished up there about quarter to five, and wandered out to see if the Salvation Army shop up the road was still open ... most thrift stores I know tend to close early on Saturdays for some reason. Well, thank goodness, it was still open. I like to pop in because despite the unpromising exterior it is piled high with all sorts of junk. (Found a loose Mega CD 1 a while back ... left it because it looked so grimy & beat up)

Today they have a couple of new PC joysticks, but I'm not too bothered about them. No new board games, so I sidle up to the shelf at the back where they sling most of the video games.

A few bits and pieces, a Dungeon Keeper that has been there for weeks. It's all just thrown in a pile, so I sift through. Not much to speak of ... there's a copy of Corruption by Magnetic Scrolls, but I've no idea if it's worth the standard £3.00 they charge for any video game. Elite for PC, Wonderland .. but what is this thing in a big black box at the bottom of the pile?

After much restacking I manage to extract it ... a Warcraft III Collector's Edition Box Set! My knowledge of PC games is minimal, but something tells me I'll get my £3.00 back at least! The thing weighs a ton, due to containing a large art book, several prints, a soundtrack CD, a DVD and the game.

A quick browse back at home tells me I'll probably get £30 or more for it. Which is nice .. it might go some small way to offsetting the stupid amount of money I have spent recently on various Japanese Sega items ... Twinsticks, sealed Saturn & Megadrive games etc. etc.

And if anyone knows if Magnetic Scrolls' Corruption is worth anything at all, I'd be pleased to know cause I could hopefully go back and pick it up!

Holy crap, portnoyd, excellent finds. Now I'm even more excited about the city-wide garage sale that's happening in a nearby town here soon.

After going to the coast for 4 days and finding absolutely nothing at the thrift stores I checked out there (unless you count a single loose SMB/DH cart :P ), I managed to get my first garage sale find here. It's pretty funny because it was INSANELY hot here that day (and people around here have no air conditioning :/ ), so I didn't leave the house that day and notice that a couple houses down there was a sale. I was lucky that my mom spotted it while driving home from work. I had always joked with my boyfriend that if there was ever a yard sale in this neighborhood, there would likely be games since there are so many kids here. I was right, hehe. :) I walked down, and I don't know how I missed the stack while browsing, but when I asked about games, the little boy directed me to a pile of 6 SNES games. Nothing special, but they were just a buck each (and I didn't have any of them yet). The boy was also really nice, a good little businessman, and he offered us sodas (for free). Since they're such nice neighbors, I bought 'em all. So I got:

The Addams Family
Paperboy 2
Bubsy
Road Runner's Death Valley Rally
Home Alone
Super Ninja Boy

Mostly crap, I know, but for non-sports SNES games, a dollar each isn't bad at all. I almost have to wonder if someone picked them clean of good games earlier that day (it was already around 6 PM when I walked down), but considering the heat, I doubt they got many people.

Oh, and I had a huge disappointment today. I was going up to my local Gamer's Edge, which was once my favorite store for buying NES games years ago but in recent years didn't have much to offer. I was worried that I wouldn't find anything to buy, but never did I think that I wouldn't find the store itself! We get there and there's NOTHING. The sign out on the street is still there, but the store was completely empty. There were no notices about remodelling or moving or anything, so who knows what's going on. I'll have to go to the other one in this area and see if it's gone too. It would be very sad if the big-ass(hole) chains like GameStop and EB put good old Gamer's Edge out of business. :( The employees were sometimes jerks, but it was still an excellent little local chain for getting games ranging from new to old to imported.
