View Full Version : Thinking of Selling my SNES Collection...

Well, After collecting for about a year or so, maybe more, I have decided I might want to sell my SNES collection. I'm not really getting anywhere collecting for it, right now, and I need money, so I think it's best that I should. If I do sell it, I will know I would want to get the games again, so instead I can just download the roms and buy a joypad for the computer. I was just wondering if any of you think this is a good idea, or not. I'll be thinking about it the whole week, and if I decide to do it, I'll start selling in two weeks. Thanks.

Selling a collection is not something that you do without giving it a lot of thought first, because once its gone its gone. But I'll give you the same answer I've seen about a dozen other people give in other threads just like this one. Save the games that you enjoy playing and sell the others. Emulators are great and all but there's nothing like playing a game on its original platform.

But if you DO decide to sell your collection off be sure to let us know.

Just think it over this week, is your last year or so of collecting worth just selling up!..

Also just out of interest how many games / items / consoles have you collected?

If it's not a big amount maybe it would be worth selling, but think of the after effects! will you be kicking yourself in a months time?

PS. On an unrelated matter when i saw : Thinking of Selling my SNES Collection... i instantly thought of darth vader! LOL O_O

That's exactly how I feel. Anyway, I don't have that large of a collection. My collection is located here: http://gametz.com/?S=11721171&user=HungryWolf&tab=Collection
If I do sell it, I was wondering how I should. Should I offer them here first and the reast eBay them?

Thanks.

If you're in need of money go for ebay. I'm always continually tossing around the idea of selling off parts of my collection but I just can't bring myself to do it after all the work I've done. I usually overspend on games so I have to sell off stuff to make up the money but I always try to get rid of crap I don't want or extras before the stuff I really like. So maybe you should cut down parts of your snes collection first and keep a few games you like?

Please let us know if and when your going to sell them!

Those are some seriously awesome SNES games you have. I can't imagine why you'd want to sell those, as you have many of the best and most sought after games for the system. Oh well. If you do decide to sell those, please let us know first before it goes to ebay.

hmmm... not a lot of fat to trim on that collection. normally when people post topics like this they have a lot of crap games. I say don't sell unless you really need the money for something.

I'd be interested in kirby's dream course and orge battle if you do go threw with it. Are any of your games complete?

As regards to the topic of people/you selling their collection. I would just hold onto them really it's half the fun hunting down the game and then cleaning them out and showing them off to fellow gamers.

Nope, I'm not gonna sell something I just completed. LOL

I would definitely think it over before selling the games. You could get them back later, but it may cost you a heck of alot more as well.

Thanks for your opinions, guys.

My complete games are:
Illusion of Gaia with map
Paladin's Quest with map
Shadowrun with poster
Drakkhen
Secret of Evermore with map, poster, and strategy guide
and
Final Fantasy Mystic Quest with map

Unfortunately, some of my games are not in the best condition. Some of the more rare games, sych as Harvest Moon, have the labels pretty messed up. But luckily, also some of the harder to find, and good games, such as Secret of Mana, CHrono Trigger, Ogre Battle, and Kirby's Dreamland 3 are in excellent condition.

I was thinking of selling games individually, and some in small lots. Ones that have label damage, I would group together and sell those, but ones that are in excellent condition, I would sell individually.

The main reason I want to sell my games is because I can just get a controller and download roms. And with the extra money, I would put in for my other two collections, Dreamcast and NeoGeo Pocket.

Once again, thanks.

I'd be interested in Paladin's Quest if the cartridge was in good shape. (:

Anyway really it's up to you, if having the physical cartridges really doesn't matter to you then there's nothing wrong with playing them on an emulator. Maybe you could even make enough money selling the games to buy one of those devices that allows you to play roms on your normal SNES. Course you'd have to find one first.

Well, the Paladin's Quest cart itself is in excellent condition. It's just everything else that's very worn.

Getting a rom playing device for a SNES would be a good idea, but like you said, I'd have to find one first, and I'd need a lot of money, because from what I've seen, they are expensive.

Their not really that much maybe 200 bucks at the most for a ufo or a wild card. That may sound like alot but you would also be able to burn your games onto it. Though if you'd be using emulators it would kind of make the whole thing pointless.

Yeah, well I was thinking of getting a joypad, all the games I could find, and a wire that would put what I see on my moniter onto my TV, so it almost feels like the same thing.

It's really up to you. If you really want the money go ahead and sell them. From looking at your UGTZ page you have about 25 games and most of them are RPGs. :D If you do sell your collection probably offer it to people here first before Ebay.

Plus if you ever wanted the stuff you could always get it again. It's not like you have 200 Snes game or something and from my own experiences I can generally get stuff I orginally owned at one time at a cheaper price down the road.

I think the whole copier issue isn't worth the money. Not to mention there not the easiest things to find. I've heard some of those of copiers can break down on you but I've never owned one myself. Plus if you mainly just play RPGs like me the controller for emulation isn't really that important.

As for selling them I would probably sell most of the RPGs separately as even if there only naked carts you can still probably get a decent amount for them. The other non RPG one you could probably sell in lots as they probably don't fetch much.

Yeah, I know, I don't have much. I was thinking about selling here first, then go to eBay, but I really need cash now, and I think eBay's my best bet to get more money.

Yeah, that's true. But I think I'll just stick to roms, if I ever want them again.

I wasn't really thinking about getting a copier anyway. Like you said, they might break down and stuff, and they're hard to find. Probably not worth the 200 bucks, especially when I have a computer, ZSNES, and some roms, for free. I don't only play RPGs. I also play games like Mega Man, and in my opinion, it's VERY hard to play it with a keyboard.

Yeah, exactly what I was going to do.

Thanks for your opinions.

Yeah with the game's he's got he could easily make up that $200.

Well, unfortunately, like I said before, some games have bad label damage. Earthbound is one of them. The back label does have damage to the label, but I guess you can replace that. The front label has slight wear and tear, so this is definitely not for a collector.

As for the whole controller thing. I've played through all the NES and Snes Megaman games on emulation using a keyboard. It just takes a little time to get use to it. The only games that really can't be played on a keyboard are fighting games. I know you said your going to get a controller so it's probably not an issue but I thought I would mention it anyway.

Yeah, I'm sureit takes a lot of getting used to. I tried it and I just couldn't do it. But I will get a joypad because I don't want to practice how to use the keyboard all day.

AdamG, Robotrek is in mint condition, but is cart only, just in case you didnt know.

EndlessChris, I said before that the cart is not in the best condition. If you still want it, cool. Maybe we can work something if I sell it.

Alright, I've decided. I am gonna sell my collection. I don't know when I'll be able to do it though. I have to either get my camera fixed or use my dad's friends if he has one. I'll also have to figure out if I want to sell here first or go straight to eBay. But one thing for sure is that I'm selling my SNES Collection.

If you sell here first you won't have to worry about the pictures unless someone asks for one which doesn't happen that often.

Well, as I've said before, some of my games are beat up and I just thought they might want pictures to show the label damage and stickers.

As long as you describe the condition well you shouldn't need picture for selling here.

i would be interested in kirbys dreamland 3 still. the only way i wouldnt take it is if it didnt work, or if there was no label at all. mind you pictures would still be nice :)
