I just bought my first complete MVS kit from the NeoStore. I sold my AES for a few bills so i though i'd start investing in some complete Slug kits. I checked on ebay, the usual websites, and various individual sellers. But i didn't really see too many "Deals" IMO. So i figured i'd send my business to Shawn over at NG.com. Anyway, I have this unwritten rule; if its not new and its expensive now, its only gonna get MORE expensive in the future. Of all the Slug kits, MS3 was the most expensive. It was $247 shipped....my initial reaction :O . Honestly, i think this is the most i've ever paid for a game. I've had AES carts before, but they were the cheapys. Did i over pay for a MS3 kit complete? I'd like to consider this kit as an "investment". Sometimes its hard to tell in the Neo Universe whats gonna go up or down. I'll post again after it arrives.

Generally speaking, AES is more in the "investment" column, while MVS is less investment and more play. I honestly don't think I'd pay over $200 for a Slug 3 kit, unless it was one of the ones with mini marquee and everything. However, MS3 is an AWESOME game and if you plan to play the heck out of it, then it's well worth the money.

As is the case in the Neo Universe, someone else will certainly come along to disagree with me ;)

As much as I absolutely LOVE my AES (with MVS converter)...this is why I only have 6 games, I just cannot pull myself to pay these prices! Even though the games I have I play the hell out of, especially KoF96 I snagger off of eBay for 12.00 shipped. :D

I might have forgetten to mention that. It was listed " Item#: 721 - Metal Slug 3 MVS Kit - Totally complete
1st release version with the greatly preferred mini marquee!"
If it wasn't Totally complete, i'd have passed on it. I kinda wanted the MS5 but i figured if 3 was complete with MM, i'd better get it while i had the chance. % is more readily available right now anyway.

Like i said, the funds didn't really come directly out my pocket. I sold my AES for $425, so i though i'd just plunk it back down on Neo stuff anyway. MS5 is next :D .

Great game but that price is well on the high end. I seriously doubt it will go up higher than that ever. Shawn does sell high quality products and you do get what you pay for though. I can't rip on him there...I've bought a few items there myself. Very nice to deal with. That being said, I'd say that's a lot for that particular kit...though with the mini...that's not SO unreasonable...the minis are hard to get for Slug 3.

I love full kits. I only own one though, Neo Mr. Do! It's the most I've ever paid for a single game. It was part of a package deal that by all indications I shoulda got burned on (a board n00b who PMed me out of the blue and lived overseas) but it worked out great and when all shook down I think the kit came out to be about $125.

Still, it's kinda hard to find, I got a great deal and I actually love the game (I think I'm alone on that one tho...)

Well... it came today. The game is AWESOME :D . However, the "Complete Kit" was missing the long cabinet play inst. sticker O_O . And for $247 @_@ ... I want a little customer satisfaction from the NeoStore. This is my first neostore purchase and i let them know that in the email i just sent. It could have very well have been a packaging oversight or something. Mistakes happen, i understand that. I'll post what they propose for a resolution.

Was it a first run kit with mini marquee?

I used to have one, and I paid I think $185 shipped from Italy.

The Neostore's prices are high especially, on items not high in stock.

But still, slug 3 is a great game.

And yea for $247, that sure as hell better have the controls sticker.

That's pretty cool. I'm a big Mr. Do! fan. Pretty soon that will be the one Mr. Do! I'm missing (getting 5200 Do Castle in trade). How close it is to the original?

Cheers,
Ben

Hmm...Shawn just email me and said that he was sorry that i thought there should be a sticker. He said maybe 1 in 50 used kits still have the sticker. Of course he offered to fully refund my money, but i though maybe we could work out some sort of deal. Maybe get some credit. So, if i paid $250 and a loose cart is valued at about $150, that leaves $100 for the value of the mini-marquee, dip setting sheet, poster, and the box. What's the sticker worth?

I really have no idea, that's a tough one to price.

I dunno about that 1 in 50 thing either, if that were true, I wouldn't have been lucky enough to have one with a sticker.

I only buy Complete/New Kits for my Neo, and just like everyone says, Shawn does the customer right.

I've bought probably 4 kits from him, and the other ones came from members of the forum at neo-geo.com.

I can tell you that my minty Metal Slug X kit (fully complete) only cost me $90.00.

So, from my POV, I would say that $250 seems a little on the steep side.

The most I've paid for a kit was $140 (including s &h), and that was for Ultimate 11 (Super Sidekicks 4).

I can't see you getting very much credit for the sticker, to be honest. I wouldn't expect much more than $10-$15 (tops.)

Good luck though.

By the way, because I just have to (being retarded and all) - who is that chick in your avatar? She has a truly amazing body! If it's someone you know, I'll just shut up.

Otherwise - DAMN!!

Peace,
Steve

Shawn only offered me $11 in credit :o ....so its goin back. Damn it! $236 is too high for an incomplete Slug 3. But from a N-G member, i'm gonna but MS3 w/STICKER, FLYER, and dip sheet & MSX loose for $200 shipped. Oh well, its gonna work out better for me anyway.

That's my wife :D

I too am a big Mr. Do! fan and I think it rocks!

It's odd. The best way I can describe it is like the "arrangement" versions Namco has done of their classics. I really dig it and it was one of the first MVS games I wanted to get. However, the general opinion seems to be that people don't like it.

Has a feeling that it would be something like $10 - $15. Sucks.

You are a LUCKY, LUCKY man. God bless you. ;)
