Ideally, I'd like a Genesis-1 with an S-Video hookup, if it even supports them. AV is good too, just not RF. Any good places to get them online? What about chain stores? Or small stores in the Boston (MA) area?

Thanks a lot to anyone who can help.

Do not believe the genesis 1 is capable of svideo at all. You're going to have a hard time finding the audio/video cable for a model 1, it's defenitely going to be much easier to find online. I've yet to come across this cable in a game store.

some people can mod their sega genesis to use s video cables ive seen it before ... or otherwise get the micomsoft adapter for use with sega genesis 2 i forgot what its called maybe 1-xdr something like that micomsoft or get the x-rgb 1 or 2 made by same company micomsoft ... other than that u can order or make home made rgb cables for ur sega genesis systems ! :)

AV cables for the Genny 1 are readily available on eBay. I have one and it's way better than RF. Seems like RF is especially bad on the Genny. Ive never used S-video or composite so I guess I don't know what I'm missing. Anyhoo, Gennys are a dime a dozen on eBay. Thats where I would get one unless someone around here has an extra one for sale, which is likely. The Genesis is really fun (IMHO) to collect for.

The first model genesis can be modded for s-video.

Apparently neogeousa.com have done a few Genesis s-video mods before. I'm hoping to have them mod mine soon.

If you haven't found a Genesis yet you either live in the worst town ever or aren't looking very hard. I see at least one a week for $5, $10 if they're complete.

3rd shelf down, those are just the Genny's I've found for $5 and under.

Ah, but those all appear to be Gen 2 consoles - he wants a Gen 1 *with* an S-Video mod. Those don't just turn up around every corner ;)

Checked out that Genny S-video mod, looks like something I could do.

So Gen-1's... any good places besides ebay? Or is that really my best bet?

Edit: Actually, in that mod, where does the sound come from?

>_>... so how does one hook that up to the TV?

You can so tell that I'm a Genesis expert, LOL
