Sega Game Gear switching off

Recently my Sega Game Gear has been suddenly turning itself off and then not coming back on after about 20 or so minutes of play.

If I leave it for ages, it'll come back on, but then do the same thing after another 20 mins of play.

It does it with both batteries and AC power.

Can anyone shed any light on fixing this problem, or should I start looking for a new Game Gear?

it could be a voltage regulator - ive seen those symptoms before (on other devices) and it was a voltage regulator

those things have a shut down feature - it could be malfunctioning

i wouldnt try to replace it - unless your familiar with that kind of work
