coleco/adam test system?

i'm curious about this item! it came with my coleco/adam from a garage sale. i almost didnt buy the stuff because of this, as i thought it was part of the adam system that was in pieces. anyway i bought the system because everything shown on the box seemed intact, and set this aside for the junk pile. after it sat in my room for about a week i noticed it had a sticker on it, and when i looked closer it identified this as a test unit. it still looks like its in peices, but does anyone know what its for? photos are the last four in the link below.

i wondered if this might be just an old computer system they had in the shop that they were using to test things? doesnt much explain the sticker though....

From your pictures it looks like someone ripped the power supply out of the Adam's printer. Not sure if you know this but the Adam's power switch and supply were in the printer. Really great design, because if you want to take your Adam somewhere you get a lot of exercise lugging around the 50 pound printer. People who were not into such athletics just took the power supply out of the printer. The connector you're showing fits in the back of the Adam.

My printer is still intact and is the major reason I dont set up my Adam very often, takes up way too much space on the floor for the damn thing.
