I need some names and games help here! I'm looking for information on robots in games that help you out. It could be by giving you something you need, or by pointing you in the right direction, or by acting as a sidekick and saving your life.. Anything! Can you think of any? If you can, please post the name of the robot and the game, as well as how they help you out.

Lemme think...

Mega Man (NES versions) - You have your trusty sidekick RUSH, and you also have the little flap-top robot guys the come along to give you powerups!

...actually, that's all I can think of. Geez, this is a harder question than I thought! LOL

There was this robot that worked as a guide in Descent 2, can't remember its name though. I think it helped you find keys and the doors for them and stuff.

First one that pops to mind is Clank from Ratchet & Clank.

However I must also note that I hate robots and the ones who appear to be your friends are the worst of the lot. They should all be destroyed.

What about Sasuke and Impact from the Goemon games? and let's not forget the cute little Servbots from the Mega Man Legends games!

Manbot from Freedom Force (PC)... everyone says he's gay, but i think hes cool :embarrassed:

Tio from Grandia 2 was a robot-cyborg thing too. (roborg?)
I suppose roborgs wouldnt count though coz theyre more characters than helpers
Werent those descent 2 robots just called "guide bots" ?

There are robot helpers in the mis-adventures of tronne bonne i *think* (havent actually played it but thats what i saw).

Strider ? (havent played it either)..

Metal Gear is your sidekick in the wonderful adventure game Snatcher from Konami (Sega CD/PC Engine/MSX). He not only acts as your inventory and saving apparatus, but he's a big part of the story as well.

Floyd from Jet Force Gemini-he helps you fight, and a 2nd player can take control of him.
ROB from Star Fox 64-aside from sending you supplies mid-level, he'll also help disable enemy ships in Area 6 or whatever it's called(it's the level right before you get to Venom2).
343 Guilty Spark (at least, in two levels) from Halo-not only does he provide you with information on the flood, but he'll help you fight them for a short period of time.
HK-47 and that other droid from KOTOR-party members. Nough said.
Data in any given star trek TNG game-SNES version, he was a party member, and invaluable.

Omochao from Sonic Adventure 2... although it annoys you more than anything.

Metal Arms: A Glitch in the System is all robots. Some will help you, some will kill you, and most of them do a lot of farting. Very good game I would recommend.

I thought of a couple more-the Mechan 9 and the Nomad probe in Starflight both will give you a great deal of information (although you have to get on the Mechan's good side, that's easy).

Really old Wild ARMs spoiler:

Your party member Rudy is a robot.

Let's see...there's Beat, the robot bird in Megaman.

There's also ADA in Zone of the Enders 2 (not sure if it's in the first one). It might be more of an AI than an actual robot though.

Err, this might not count, but I can only think of ROB, the accessory, for the NES. It helps you... stack things and stuff. Im not really sure as Ive never actually owned one. But its certainly unique.

It may only be for a few seconds, but in Beyond Good and Evil, at the beginning, that one tells you you have mail and has you follow it into the basement.

Pretty good list going. Here's another.

You control the giant robot in R.A.D. ... you might say it is the most helpful robot of all if you need help leveling a city and/or smashing other giant robots to bits. These are two things I find that I need help with often.

By the way, the game is a great sleeper and lots of fun.

Suspended (C64): You are in cryogenic suspension when something goes wrong and the computer wakes you up. You have to set things right by giving commands to the following six robots:

IRIS is your visual aid that describes things to you.
WALDO is the construction robot that fixes stuff.
SENSA's sensors can sense vibrations, photon emissions and ionic dicharges.
AUDA is your ears, useful if any human enters your complex.
POET is a diagnostic robot that also says "a wise poem" sometimes!
WHIZ is your R2D2 unit! Plugs itself in CLC peripherals and finds information.
There was once a seventh robot, but it's broken beyond repair.
Beneath a Steel Sky (Amiga, CD32): You have a robot friend named Joey who helps you out. I haven't played this much, but I imagine there's more to it than that.

What about "AI Droid" from Tempest 2000? Not the most imaginative name, and it's not much more than transparent cube that shoots, but it can be very helpful in this game. And there's just something cool about watching it follow you when you warp to your next playfield.

yes yes yes yes yes yes YES YES YES

I'm not sure it's what you mean but what about using robots to fight like in "One Must Fall"?

How about the Mech games?

Jasoco

Yeah, like MechAssault. It's humans, in gigantic robots. I'd say that's a Helper Robot... in a way.

Bumping this to see if this is the end of the list.
The more info you can give about how the robot is helpful, the better!

Ps- Games where the heroes (or main characters) are robots, are great, too!

What about the Jack robots from Tekken? Playable and all.

There was a robot in F-Zero GX called QQQ, who was a driver, as well as Mighty Gazelle(though he was a cyborg, who just happened to be almost entirely robot).

And don't forget Bender from Futurama!

*haven't read the responses*

RoboTrek (snes) - Duh :P
Breath of Fire 3 (psx) - Honey Momo's little Robot
Breath of Fire 4 (psx) - Ershin
Shining Force (genny) - Chaos and Adam
Shining Force 2 (genny) - Zynk
ChronoTrigger (snes) - Gato and Robo? I don't remember his real name I always renamed him. Plus he had a girlfriend NPC.
Wonder Project J (sfc) - Pino and Tink
Secret of Evermore (snes) - Robot Dog
SaGa Frontier (psx) - T260G
Shadow Madness (psx) - Harv-5 (I think he was a robot anyway)
Xenogears (psx) - Emeralda? She's kinda a android type character. She's a colony of nanomachines anyway, which is like a lot of little robots.
Xenosaga (ps2) - KOS-MOS
Grandia II (dreamcast) - Trio
Phnatasy Star III (genesis) - Mieu, Siren, Miun,
Phantasy Star IV (genesis) - Demi, Wren
Paladin's Quest (snes) - Nails

Questionables:
Final Fantasy 7: Cait Sith is a "toy" remotely controled by an unknown person in Shynra headquarters.
Final Fantasy 9: Vivi was man made at a factory and infused with magical energy that brought him and the other black mages to life for a short time period.
